Stokely Carmichael Quote  Quotes of the Day:

The ruling class, under Trump and the banner of austerity, are prepared to attack all the social gains of the New Deal, during the labor upsurge in the 30s and forties, and all of the gains of the Civil Rights Movements in the 60s and 70s, by any means they deem necessary. All of the leaderships of these movements have been become, in their own words, in partnership with the 1% — in opposition to and a historic betrayal of the working class and the masses the masses they were/are supposed to represent.  The resistance to austerity has begun in the Black Community, in response, the use of forces, as Jack London, described in the Iron Heel were/are used by Obama’s militarized police forces. The misleaders of the traditional Black movement were not recognized by the Black Lives Matter movement, which has risen from the ashes of Ferguson and Baltimore. As Colin Kaepernick pointed out, both Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump, have supported and encouraged the use of the Iron Heel in the community and are/were the enemy of the Black Community. NATO’s Expanding Military Frontier In an examination in the New Yorker of the career and prospects of the US Secretary of Defence, General James Mattis, Dexter Filkins, a highly respected Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, noted President Trump’s attitude to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and its military posture, and wrote that “along NATO’s eastern frontier the Russian military maintain[s] tens of thousands of troops, many of them on high alert.” by Brian Cloughley Trial and Terror The U.S. government has prosecuted 805 people for terrorism since the 9/11 attacks. Most of them never even got close to committing an act of violence. The U.S. government segregates terrorism cases into two categories — domestic and international. This database contains cases classified as international terrorism, though many of the people charged never left the United States or communicated with anyone outside the country. Ex-SF Navy shipyard workers allege fraud in radiation cleanup The cleanup of radioactive contamination at the Hunters Point Shipyard was marred by widespread fraud, faked soil samples, and a high-pressure culture where speed was valued over accuracy and safety, according to four former site workers. The Mumia Abu Jamal Case: Court Threatens Sanctions — If DA Does Not Produce Discovery The following statement was submitted by Noelle Hanrahan, a private investigator and the director of Prison Radio. Common Pleas Court Judge Leon Tucker has threatened the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office with sanctions if they do not produce the discovery he ordered in Mumia’s criminal case “Cook v. Commonwealth”.  See the Order here! From 15 Million Acres to 1 Million: How Black People Lost Their Land? At its height, Black land ownership was impressive. At the turn of the 20th century, formerly enslaved Black people and their heirs owned 15 million acres of land, primarily in the South, mostly used for farming. In 1920, the 925,000 African-American farms represented 14 percent of the farms in America. Sadly, things turned for the worse, as 600,000 Black farmers were forced off their land, with only 45,000 Black farms remaining in 1975. Now, Black folks are only 1 percent of rural landowners in the U.S., and under 2 percent of farmers. Of the 1 billion acres of arable land in America, Black people today own a little more than 1 million acres, according to AP. By David LoveEnvironment:

Econo my: Shadow Government Statistics Alternate InflationCharts  The CPI chart on the home page reflects our estimate of inflation for today as if it were calculated the same way it was in 1990. The CPI on the Alternate Data Series tab here reflects the CPI as if it were calculated using the methodologies in place in 1980. In general terms, methodological shifts in government reporting have depressed reported inflation, moving the concept of the CPI away from being a measure of the cost of living needed to maintain a constant standard of living World:

Why exactly were the police spying on Jeremy Corbyn? At the tail end of the general election campaign, the Daily Telegraph reported that undercover police officers had monitored Jeremy Corbyn for two decades. It was claimed that he had been put under surveillance “amid fears that he was attempting to undermine democracy”.

Jobstown Not Guilty: The Irish Establishment in the dock Shortly after midday on 29th June, an eleven person jury delivered 6 unanimous verdicts of “not guilty” to spontaneous cheers in the courtroom at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The verdict brings to its conclusion a trial by means of which the Irish ruling class sought to bring an end to the fundamental democratic right to peaceful protest. By Ben Curry Britain’s Political Revolution: how Brexit, immigration and housing became flashpoints of change Britain is experiencing profound political changes, going by the outcome of the general election, but new trends are shadowy, developing below the surface. It may be that Labour’s relative success – achieved amid confident predictions by pundits of annihilating defeat – stemmed from a last-minute change of direction by voters, or simply because pollsters vastly underestimated the turnout of pro-Labour younger voters. Health, Science, Education, and Welfare:

2017 State of the Nation:   Liberalism is dead, there is no longer any material basis for New Deal Reformism. In the 1930’s, when capitalism was in crisis the working class rose up to form their unions in order to protect their class interests and standard of living. To prevent a socialist revolution, the U.S. ruling class, under FDR, were able to grant a few New Deal concessions to the working class. They were able to do this because the United States was the world’s creditor nation.  In today’s crisis, since the United States is a debtor nation, the 1% and their Capitalist System cannot afford the luxury of New Deal politics or reformism to prevent what occurred in the 30s. Worldwide the only choice for capitalism is to apply the political program of austerity enforced by Iron Heal. The fig leaf of reformation is over. — Roland Sheppard
