The new series “Four Died Trying” seeks to expose what—and who—was really behind the sizzling ’60s’ politics of assassination. We sat down with the filmmakers, John Kirby & Libby Handros.      This Nov. 22 marks the exact 60th anniversary of the 1963 shooting of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in Dallas, Texas — and it’s also  the date a new nonfiction streaming series, “Four Died Trying,” premieres on Apple TV, Amazon Prime and Google Play. The documentary, directed by John Kirby and produced by Libby Handros, investigates not only the JFK liquidation, but also the people and players allegedly behind the assassinations of Malcolm X on Feb. 21, 1965; Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., on April 4, 1968; and Sen. Robert Francis Kennedy on June 6, 1968.      The ambitious series includes interviews with MLK’s daughter Bernice King; former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young; comedian Dick Gregory; Malcolm’s daughter Ilyasah Shabazz; nonviolence advocate Rev. James Lawson ; Rev. Jesse Jackson; RFK’s daughter Kathleen Kennedy-Townsend; and film director and JFK conspiracy buff Oliver Stone. New York University Professor Mark Crispin Miller, an expert on media propaganda, is the series’ consulting producer, as well as an interview subject.

My Eyewitness Account of Malcolm X’s Assassination:

The Day the Music Died: Malcolm X’s Assassination, Feb. 21, 1965 by Roland Sheppard (First Published by the San Francisco Bayview )  Update: The assassin with the shotgun

On April 30, 2010, I received an email from John Judge, director of the Coalition on Political Assassinations, referring to an April 22, 2010, article titled For the First Time in History, The Face of William Bradley, Shotgun Assassin of Malcolm X-El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, in a Public Safety Campaign Commercial for Mayor Cory Booker! by Abdur-Rahman Muhammad.

William Bradley

In that article is the picture I was shown of William Bradley, who is the man that I had seen in the Audubon Ballroom and in the photos that the Harlem police showed me while I was being interrogated. Bradley was the man I saw coming out of the men’s room, walking by me, past the desks of the secretarial pool, and into his office inside the police station, as I was going to the men’s room!   As I wrote in my original 2009 essay: “At that point I knew that he and the government either killed Malcolm X or were part of the assassination plot.” And now I know his name. William Bradley is the man that Talmadge Hayer identified as the one who shot the shotgun. Zak Kondo also identified William Bradley as the assassin with the shotgun. . . .

The United States is not a Democracy (A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly)! Talk of “Border Crisis” Is Misleading. The Real Crisis Is US-Imposed Poverty. U.S. policies created the poverty that drives people to migrate here, despite the lack of adequate social supports. Immigration has been a touchstone of United States political debates for decades, and several cities claim to be at a “breaking point” as they struggle to absorb and support arrived migrants. But is there really a border crisis? And why are cities like New York unable to cope with the influx of migrants when their numbers are not unusual by historic standards? Have the Biden administration’s changes in asylum laws made a difference? Is there a “solution” to the migration “problem”? Avi Chomsky addresses these questions in an exclusive

The Public Has a Right to Know Every Detail of Louis DeJoy’s Destructive Agenda President Biden has utterly failed to hold DeJoy to account for his internal attack on the US Postal Service. In a time of historic distrust in government, the United States Postal Service has accomplished something extraordinary: it remains a universally beloved federal agency. Second only to the Parks Service in public favorability (a jaw-dropping 77% approval rating, per Gallup), USPS is arguably also the most frequently-interacted-with component of the federal government: packages and letters are delivered to Americans’ mailboxes six days per week. But these warm feelings – already under threat by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s continued destructive leadership – could quickly chill if the Postal Board of Governors has its way.

Natural Gas Control is the Reason for Israel’s Genocidal War on Gaza! From 2020 Article: Israel Kicks Off Middle East Gas Exports While Continuing to Deny Palestinians Their Drilling Rights Natural Gas Control is the Reason for Israel’s Genocidal War on Gaza! From 2020 Article: Israel Kicks Off Middle East Gas Exports While Continuing to Deny Palestinians Their Drilling Rights  The flow of natural gas from Israel to Jordan and Egypt could be upsetting to many, including Palestinians, who are denied their right to drill and extract gas from the Gaza Marine field – discovered in 1999 off Gaza’s seashores.     The field is located a proximity 30 kilometres off the seashore of Gaza, but due to the complexity of the geopolitics of the region and the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, it has laid dormant for nearly 20 years so far since its discovery.     The field is estimated to contain one trillion cubic feet of gas and estimated to have a life of 15 years. . . . If Palestinians were to have free access and drilling rights to their fields, this would reduce their reliance on foreign aid and Israeli energy and be self-sufficient in electricity generation in both Gaza and the West Bank.

The deal, which was approved by Israel’s national unity cabinet on Tuesday evening, also provides for a four-day humanitarian pause in Israel’s land and air assault on Gaza, and permission for hundreds of aid trucks to bring in water, food and other necessities to Gaza’s Palestinians. Some 500 trucks used to enter the Gaza Strip daily, but that number has been cut to a handful or sometimes none at all by the Israeli authorities. Gaza’s population, under economic blockade since 2007, is deeply dependent on imported staples.     Hamas took some 240 hostages during its horrific October 7 attack on Israel, which killed 1200 persons, 1,000 of them innocent non-combatants. The machine-gunning down of innocents at a music festival, other attacks on non-combatants with small arms, and the firing of unguided rockets at civilian cities are all grave war crimes, as is hostage-taking.

Israel’s Nuclear Threat: The Dangers Only Multiply Israel’s robust military, the fourth-strongest in the world, is ravaging Gaza and, along with armed settlers, terrorizing Palestinians in the West Bank following the brutal Hamas massacres of October 7th. Like so many other colonial projects, Israel was born of terror and has necessitated the use of violence to occupy Arab territory and segregate  Palestinians ever since. The realization that its existence was dependent on a superior military in an unfriendly region also encouraged Israel to pursue a nuclear weapons program shortly after the state’s founding in 1948.     Even though Israel was a young nation, by the mid-1950s, with the aid of France, it had secretly begun the construction of a large nuclear reactor. That two allies had teamed up to launch a nuclear weapons program without the knowledge of the administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower turned out to be a colossal (and embarrassing) American intelligence failure. . .  —A Rogue Nuclear Power?— Following the Six-Day War in June 1967, Israel seized large tracts of Arab land, including the West Bank from Jordan, the Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, and the Golan Heights from Syria. Not coincidently, that year was also the moment Israel crossed the nuclear threshold. (In 2017, it was revealed that, on the verge of the Six-Day War, the Israelis had even contemplated exploding a nuclear bomb in Egypt’s Sinai Desert as the ultimate threat to its neighbors.).    At that time, as human rights attorney Noura Erakat explained to Daniel Denvir on The Dig, President Lyndon Johnson’s administration came to see in Israel “a significant Cold War asset and [pivoted] very quickly and [established] this new policy of ensuring Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region whereby it can defeat singularly or collectively any Middle Eastern powers.” And that, she added, was done in those Cold War years “to ensure its sphere of influence across the Middle East in competition with the Soviet Union.”

Nearly 80 Percent of Palestinians in Gaza Have Been Displaced, UN Reports Meanwhile, the water supply has dropped to just 17 percent of pre-siege levels, Oxfam has found. The number of Palestinians in Gaza who have been displaced from their homes has risen to roughly 1.7 million as of November 19, according to an update from the United Nations this week. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has decried the humanitarian crisis in the region as “unparalleled.”    The number represents over three-quarters of the population of Gaza that has now been forcibly displaced by Israeli bombardment and raids over the past weeks. UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) shelters, which are housing 930,000 people across Gaza, are severely overcrowded and have seen a 35 percent increase in skin diseases and a 40 percent rise in diarrhea cases over the past two weeks, reports the agency.

Head of Bombed Gaza Hospital Appeals Directly to Biden “You have destroyed the international rules of the game, insulted the authority of the U.N., torn apart the sense of justice… and tarnished the face of human civilization.”     The director of the aid group that runs the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza—where Israeli attacks killed at least a dozen people on Monday—appealed directly to U.S. President Joe Biden, imploring him to push Israel to accept a cease-fire in a war that’s killed or maimed more than 40,000 Palestinians.

No Right to Private Action, Only the ‘Decider’ Government (Big Brother) Can ‘Decide’!: Court Guts Key Provision of the Voting Rights Act “This decision is a devastating blow to the civil rights of every American, and the integrity of our nation’s electoral system.” A federal appeals court on Monday ruled that only the U.S. Department of Justice can bring lawsuits under Section 2 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, a decision that—if upheld—would deprive private citizens and advocacy groups of the ability to file legal challenges to fight discriminatory election practices.    In a 2-1 decision, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that there is no “private right of action” under that part of the Voting Rights Act, which prohibits “any voting standard, practice, or procedure that results in the denial or abridgment of the right of any citizen to vote on account of race, color, or membership in a language minority group.”

NYPD Spends $390 Million on Radio System Despite NYC’s Massive Budget Cut Amid massive budget cuts to services like libraries, New York City has made millions available to its police force. Days after New York City limited library services as part of a massive budget cut, effectively forcing public libraries to close on Sundays, the New York Police Department (NYPD) announced that it will spend $390 million on a new radio system that will encrypt officers’ radio communication.    “Access to police radios, a critical tool for newsgathering and police oversight, will no longer be possible if the police get their way,” Andy Ratto, a legal intern at the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.), wrote for the City Limits in August.
