My Forefathers and The 1%’s Forefathers
2020 Preface:
I first wrote this essay after I watched nominees for the Supreme Court, state that they interpreted the conconsitution, based upon the i ntent ff the ‘forefathers’, who framed this constitution! I realized that I identified with my ‘forefathers’, who led and/or fought adainst the king of England and rhe feudal system he represented. The final battle cry to organize the masses for a successful insurrection was the Declaration of Independence. The opening lines of this declaration are/were: When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. I realized that the current majority of the surpreme court indentified with the ‘forefathers’ who wrote the constituion! That the Constitution codified a counterrevolution opposed to the ideals of the Declaration of Independence and the instution of wealth white male minority rule! And so. Afropessimism Forces Us to Rethink Our Most Basic Assumptions About Society In the 21st century, what does it mean to be Black in the world? Most of us are familiar with the joyous Black aesthetic expression: “Black is beautiful.” Perhaps you’re also familiar with the radical, revolutionary declaration, “I’m Black and I’m proud!” Indeed, it was in 1969 that the “Godfather of Soul,” James Brown, told us to “Say it Loud.” And everyone around the globe knows about the momentum of the Black Lives Matter Movement (BLM) that emerged as Black people collectively took to the streets protesting systemic racism and police brutality waged against them. Like the civil rights movement, BLM is undergirded by a theme of hope and redemption, which brings back memories of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song,” released in 1980. But even as many in our communities and our movements continue to be buoyed by these joyous expressions of hope and pride, some Black philosophers are also striving to articulate the bleakest aspects of Black experience as shaped by life in a society where Blackness is unrelentingly cast as a site of the “nonhuman,” and there is no redemption for Black people. In the past, I have assumed that the opposite of being racially Black is to be racially white, but Afropessimists like Frank B. Wilderson III challenge us to face the ways in which dominant white society insists that the opposite of being racially Black is actually to be human.
Margaret Kimberley, Black Ajemd Report Executive Editor and Senior Columnist Decolonizing the Mind The word decolonization should not be treated as trendy slang. It describes an important political and psychological process. Media and state attempts at indoctrination show just how important it is. It is vital to free ourselves from belief in the systems of white supremacy and imperialism that are inculcated in the educational system and are affirmed and amplified by the media and establishment opinion. The recent death of Queen Elizabeth II puts the need for political and psychological liberation in high relief. We are encouraged to admire an anachronistic monarchy, and are exhorted to join in mourning an individual and a system that have caused great harm to Black and other oppressed people around the world. It is important to point out that British prime ministers are heads of government while the monarch is head of state. Elizabeth bore responsibility for every UK government action during her 70-year long reign. The concentration camps and torture in Kenya during the independence struggle were her responsibility. So was the U.S. backed decision to undermine the commonwealth nation of Australia, and dispatch Gough Whitlam , the elected prime minister, who strayed too far from the imperialist consensus. The Windrush scandal which deprived Caribbean immigrants of their rights happened under her reign, as did Britain’s invasion of Iraq and support for the destruction of Libya.

The topic of the forum was ‘The conflict over Ukraine: Where should the left stand? . On August 6 we celebrated 197 years of independence here in Bolivia. We listened intently to the speech by President Luis Arce delivered in Sucre, the capital city in Bolivia’s Chiquisaca department. Among other issues, he spoke about the current military conflict in Ukraine and the need for peace in today’s world. President Arce said there cannot be peace in the world so long as there is continued foreign military intervention and economic blockades and sanctions, so very painful to humanity. He went on to say that Bolivians are placing much attention on the conflict taking place in Ukraine. He cautioned against the propaganda being generated in Western countries about all of the harm and violence that people are suffering as a consequence of this conflict..

Economy:
Michael Roberts: The Closing Scissors and Profits Global corporate profits growth is heading south, according to analysis by JP Morgan economists. JP Morgan estimates that, after surging a humungous 89% (4q moving ave) in 2021, global corporate profits moderated to a still-solid 24% in the year ending in 2Q22. And they reckon that “on net, the level of profits is 17% above its pre-pandemic trend, but still making up for lost earnings through the pandemic.” However, JP Morgan expects “slowing in profit growth in the coming quarters as inflation cools while labor markets remain tight. Additional pressure is coming from rising corporate borrowing rates as central banks press on with the steepest tightening cycle in decades.” The scissors of a future slump (falling profits and rising interest rates) are beginning to close. During the post-pandemic recovery, corporate profit margins (that’s the difference between revenues and costs per unit of production) reached multi-decade highs as the surge in inflation boosted corporate pricing power while wages languished. But things are changing in 2022. Profit margins are sliding down as costs of production rise and revenue growth slows.
Shadow Government Staitistics Daily Update September 14th to 15th
· Depressed by temporarily weaker gasoline prices, unadjusted annual PPI was 8.72% in August, down from 9.85% in July, with historical Finished Goods Inflation slowing to 12.72%, from 15.41% in July. Headline, unadjusted annual CPI-U was 8.3% in August 2022, versus 8.5% in July; ShadowStats Alternate was 16.5% in August, versus 16.8% in July, again with a continued hit from declining gasoline prices. Yet, August Real Disposable Income continued to sink year-to-year, hitting a cycle trough, down by 5.2% (-5.2%) for all employees.
· Headline annual Poverty Survey and Income reporting showed continuing deterioration, although such was not statistically meaningful, given the government’s use of understated headline inflation.
· Previously – July 2022 Trade Deficit Narrowed on top of revised, deepened deficits in recent months. August 2022 Headline Unemployment jumped 0.2%, to 3.7%, as the prior month’s July 2022
· Pandemic “Recovery” in Payroll Employment disappeared, purportedly shifting now to August 2022, amidst regular BLS seasonal-adjustment reporting gimmicks.
· Preliminary August 2022 Monetary Base gained in the month, reflecting Increasing Bank Reserves, held by Federal Reserve Banks, more than offsetting an unusual, albeit minimal, monthly drop in Currency in Circulation. July 2022
· Money Supply continued to increase, showing no noticeable slackening suggestive of pending Inflation relief. — No. 1461 should post in the next week or so, but its posting will be pre-announced here first (Subscribers please see the note in the later Pending Commentary Section. The next major release is the August 2022 PPI on September 15th.
JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo Flunk a Test Measuring their Support for American Democracy The nonpartisan watchdog group, Accountable.US, has released the results of an investigation into how committed to democracy the 100 largest corporations in America are. The corporations were graded on support for voting rights, the electoral process, and American democracy. The results were provided in an interactive resource called the American Democracy Scorecard.
World
Britain: Anti-Monarchy Activists Arrested – Defend the Right to Protest! The last week has seen a spate of arrests against anti-monarchy protestors, as the establishment cynically utilises the Queen’s death to silence the left. But no amount of repression can hold back the rising tide of class struggle. Last Sunday in Edinburgh, for example, at a ceremony for the accession of King Charles III, a young woman involved with Revolutionary Students and other student activist groups at Edinburgh University was arrested for holding up a placard that said ‘abolish the monarchy’. Police argued that this constituted a ‘breach of the peace’ – the same charge given to a man who was later arrested in Edinburgh for heckling Prince Andrew as he passed. Similarly, Socialist Appeal comrades running a street stall in Nottingham on Sunday were instructed by police not to use anti-monarchy slogans. Officers told the comrades that these could ‘cause offence’ and constitute a breach of the peace. This was despite the comrades and their stall receiving a positive reception from local members of the public.
Education, Health, Science, and Welfare:
The government of the United States can pass laws in a few days to spend tens of trillions of dollars for war and the bailout of Wall Street and the bankers. Yet, those who ‘:’, pass universal healthcare for themselves, but they cannot spend even one trillion dollars for universal health for those who are ‘governed’! Climate Reparations
Not as charity, but as a transformative justice process in which political power will return to the people. This should not be in the form of loans, but a follow through on the demands from Indigenous, black, anti-patriarchal and diverse marginalized communities to get their lands back, giving resources to the most affected communities by the climate crisis for adaptation, loss and damages – a redistribution (and in most cases, collectivization) of wealth, technology, information, care work, and political power both from the north to the south, and from top to bottom.
The Problem
Climate struggle is class struggle, for years, the ruling class, primarily through corporations and governments from the Global North dominated by affluent, white, heterosexual cis-males, have exercised their power, gained through colonialism, capitalism, patriarchy, white supremacy and exploitation, to destroy the earth and its occupants with no remorse. They deliberately sacrifice the Global South’s ecosystems and peoples for the sake of their so-called “development” and everlasting “economic growth”. Meanwhile, the working class is used as tools to build the very system that is destroying them.
What We Must Do
Colonizers and capitalists are at the core of every system of oppression that has caused the climate crisis, and decolonization, using the tool of climate reparations, is the best kind of climate action. The richest capitalist 1%,must be held responsible for their actions and willful ignorance. Their profit is our death. Their profit is our suffering. Together with different sectors of society across the world, led by the most marginalized, let’s bring back the power to the people whose power has been stolen. Together, let’s build a system and home where we prioritize #PeopleNotProfit.
