From Another Nuclear Fusion Folly: Billions Already Spent on ‘Energy Pipedream’: Nuclear Free Local Authorities (NFLA) has rarely commented on nuclear fusion, given such energy projects have yet to be commercially realised. All have foundered around the complex challenges in developing such technology, many of which in the third decade of the 21st century remain unsolved. n summary, to date, none of the experimental reactors in operation have produced more energy than was put into them. Operating a fusion reactor presents many challenges and risks. The Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) has also recently published a preliminary position paper ‘Radioactive Wastes from Fusion Energy’ (6 December).

Advocating Open 1% Dictatorial Rule!: Major Corporations Have ‘Broken Promises and Funded Seditionists’ Since Jan. 6, Reports Reveal One critic said continuing to give to lawmakers “who tried to overthrow the will of the people makes clear that these companies were never committed to standing up for democracy in the first place.” The government watchdog group Accountable.US released an interactive report entitled In Bad Company, which focuses on 20 Fortune 500 companies and 10 industry groups that have contributed over $3.3 million to the eight senators and 139 representatives collectively dubbed the “Sedition Caucus” since a right-wing mob stormed the Capitol last year.
When Drone Warfare is Terrorism The myth of “precision” weapons and “precise” strikes. On Aug. 29, 2021, a US drone strike killed 10 civilians in Afghanistan, including seven children. On Nov. 13, 2021, the New York Times reported on the cover-up of a 2019 air strike in Syria that killed over 50 civilians. Yet, the recent media coverage of these strikes is the exception rather than the norm. Instead, the thousands of civilian deaths and injuries caused by the US drone war over the last two decades have been largely ignored: There have been no mass protests in the streets, and little to no political and public pressure to end the use of drones. Instead, from its inception, drone warfare has been defended as professional, efficient, and precise. President Barack Obama described drone strikes as “precise, precision strikes against al-Qaida and their affiliates,” and President Joe Biden defended the use of drones as part of an ongoing “unforgiving, targeted, precise strategy” to fight terrorism. Because of this supposed ability to precisely target combatants, drones are portrayed as weapons that allow war to be fought more justly. This portrayal of drones as precision weapons that can discriminate between combatants and non-combatants, however, obscures how drone warfare can itself be terrorism.

The New York Times’ investigation into the Pentagon’s civilian casualty files is some of the most important journalism in the War on Terror. It methodically and thoroughly picks apart the layers of lies around drone warfare and proves that the few examples of civilian casualties that have been investigated previously were not one-off mistakes. Unfortunately, this reporting comes too late for the civilians in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria who bore the brunt of the brutal air campaigns.

US Military Pollution: The World’s Biggest Climate Change Enabler: Progressive Leaders Demand Closure of Toxic Navy Facility in Hawaii What’s happening at the U.S. military’s Red Hill facility is being called a “crime of historic proportions.” A coalition of eminent progressives from across the globe—including environmentalist Naomi Klein and intellectual Noam Chomsky—demanded Tuesday that the U.S. Navy immediately shutter its aging Red Hill facility in Honolulu, Hawaii, where a major fuel leak has contaminated local drinking water and displaced thousands of residents. In a new open letter, members of the Progressive International Council noted that since its construction in the 1940s, the Red Hill Underground Fuel Storage Facility has “leaked at least 180,000 gallons of petroleum-based fuel into the soils and waters of the island,” and “nearly 200 million gallons still remain in the leaking underground tanks.”

These allotments just north of Yellowstone National Park play an essential role in sustaining the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Continued livestock grazing on these allotments will potentially impact the region’s wildlife, vegetation, soil, and water.

But when a Reddit group that calls itself “Superstonk” spotted our article and posted it in their comment section, our website got caught in the crosshairs.
