$9.2 Billion in Federal Tax Breaks Deliver Boost to Canadian Fossils Canada missed out on nearly C$9.2 billion in foregone revenue between 2015 and 2019 thanks to income tax breaks to oil, gas, and coal mining companies, according to a Parliamentary Budget Office analysis produced at the request of Sen. Rosa Galvez (ISG-QC). The government also left behind $179 million in 2019 due to a carbon levy exemption for agriculture, the PBO reported Friday. That amount is expected to increase to more than $1.5 billion in 2030, when the federal floor price on carbon hits $170 per tonne, though the analysts say that figure doesn’t account for the “behavioural response by farmers” that will see them reducing their emissions as the cost rises.

The imperialists are reacting in a haphazard fashion to the discovery of this new strain, whose emergence they facilitated to begin with through hoarding the world’s vaccine supply.

This is certainly true of 8 December, when it will be one year since the “Kent variant” of coronavirus (aka Alpha and B.1.1.7), was first identified. By then this new, more infectious virus was ravaging the north Kent coast and was to lead to tens of thousands of deaths in Britain between October 2020 and 31 March 2021. I still think of it as the Kent variant because the Covid-19 Genomics UK Consortium said that the key sample came from “near Canterbury”, where I live. A local medical source, who wanted to remain anonymous, gave me more precise information, saying that the first patient suffered from a weak immune system and lived in Margate on the Isle of Thanet, which is 15 miles from Canterbury.
Israel Pushes Hardline in Iran Nuclear Talks After a 5-month hiatus, indirect negotiations between the U.S. and Iran resumed last week in Vienna in an attempt to revise the 2015 Iran nuclear deal (formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA). The outlook isn’t good. Less than a week into negotiations, Britain, France, and Germany accused Iran of “walking back almost all of the difficult compromises” achieved during the first round of negotiations before Iran’s new president, Ebrahim Raisi, was sworn into office. While such actions by Iran certainly aren’t helping the negotiations succeed, there is another country — one that is not even a party to the agreement that was ripped up in 2018 by then President Donald Trump —whose hardline position is creating obstacles to successful negotiations: Israel.

Since the announcement of the company’s arrival, there have been local mobilisations in western Serbia and beyond, but the adoption of these amendments to the law, which went ahead without public debate, triggered mass mobilisations on the streets on Saturday 27 November.
