Quotes of the Day:

Everywhere the Cops Commit Illegal acts!: In a study conducted by the University of Chicago Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic, researchers found not one police department in the 20 largest U.S. cities in compliance with minimum human rights standards governing use of lethal force. They called the use of force by police “state-sanctioned violence.”  ictims of police abuse are filing litigation, and at least one judge has put a halt to some of the most egregious misconduct— Protesters Attacked by Police Are Suing to Vindicate Their Constitutional Rights

The U.S. is an increasingly diverse nation, but remains a highly segregated one. Our schools reflect both our separateness and our inequality…The desire for more integrated schools is understandable. But it is helpful to be as clear as possible about what lies behind that desire. If the main objective is to narrow racial achievement gaps, we need to understand to what extent, and in what way, segregation influences those gaps. The weight of evidence suggests that, at least in the context of the education system, the worse educational outcomes for minority students are the result not of the racial composition of their schools, but the economic backgrounds of their fellow students, and the quality of the school itself—both of which are strongly correlated with race. — Segregation, Race, And Charter Schools: What Do We Know?Image of the Day:

‘Police Violence is An Epidemic’:  Protests and the advocacy work of Black Lives Matter, Campaign Zero, and other groups have made clear that police violence—particularly police violence against Black men—is an epidemic,” Schwartz said. “Ending qualified immunity and allowing municipal liability would not cure the embedded problems with policing, but would be an important step forward… All we can do is hope that meaningful change can be passed by Congress in the coming weeks. — 300+ Law Professors Agree: Congress Should ‘Pass a Bill Tomorrow’ to End Qualified Immunity for Police

United States:

The United States is not a Democracy (A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly)! Only the 1%, through their ownership of the Reublicrats and who profit from war and the war budget, vote for War and the war budget — A policy, which Gore Vidal called a  Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace. — The 99% Should Decide On War — Not Just The 1% Who Profit From War!  Under a Democracy, The 99% would have the right to vote on the policy of Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace! As the Cirunavirus Pandemic Spreads — July 3 Episode: Barr Orders Legal Action Against Governors Whose COVID-19 Actions Infringe On Civil Rights Attorney General William P. Barr on Monday ordered federal prosecutors across the country to consider legal action against governors if their efforts to stop the spread of the new coronavirus infringe on Americans’ civil rights. In a two-page memo, Mr. Barr directed all U.S. attorneys to “be on the lookout” for local and state directives that could violate religious, free speech or economic rights under the Constitution.“If a state or local ordinance crosses the line from an appropriate exercise of authority to stop the spread of COVID-19 into an overbearing infringement of constitutional and statutory protections, the Department of Justice may have an obligation to address that overreach in federal court,” Mr. Barr wrote in a memo to the 93 U.S. attorneys. World On Fire

Capitlaism Did Not Heed This 2013 Warning: Global Warming Means Forest Fires Will Become More Frequent and More Severe — Capitalists Didn’t Want to Set the World on Fire, But Profits Came First!: And now the world being on fire is a seasonal occurance! NASA’s Aqua Satellite Sees Fire Season in Full Swing in Arizona and New MexicoArizona Reels As Three of the Biggest Wildfires in Its History Ravage State For residents of Tucson in southern Arizona, the Santa Catalina Mountains in the Coronado national forest are known as a hub for hiking, mountain biking and other outdoor recreation. But on 5 June lightning ignited a wildfire that has grown to engulf over 118,000 acres. The fires are still only 58% contained. Called the Bighorn fire, it is the eighth-biggest in state history, and it has transformed the Catalinas into a hub for the study of the impacts of climate change. Civil Rights/Black Liberation:

There is no democracy in the United States! — Just democracy for the 1%!  When the order in the United States is economic and social inequality. The slogan ‘Law and Order’ means the maintenance of that order— Rich 1% First and  the poorest of the 99% last!. Real democracy means that we all share the wealth equally! —Roland Sheppard

Labor:

Police Unions Are Racist Power Brokers in Opposition to Movement for Black Lives The scene is all too frequent — a Black person is slain or wantonly brutalized on camera by police officers, most often white, and in response, a white police union leader steps to the microphone and unequivocally defends the actions, no matter how indefensible they are. A police chief or mayor, under pressure from the community, attempts to invoke modest reforms in response, and the union wields the power of its contract to defeat the measures. Progressive-leaning prosecutors are mercilessly attacked and judges plied with union contributions to support “law and order.” Killer cops are supplied with lawyers, at union expense, when they are administratively charged or criminally prosecuted. When a department, pursuant to a consent decree or community pressure, implements de-escalation and peer intervention training, the union provides alternative “warrior mentality” training free of charge. The union leaps to the defense of a cop who sends a defenseless 75-year-old peace activist to the hospital in critical condition. Several police union leaders are notorious “repeater beaters” with long records of shootings, beatings and other misconduct. Cops in their union garb pack courtrooms to intimidate cops who break the code of silence and bravely testify about police torture and murder. Union leaders rally for Trump, while he encourages their violence. And the list goes on. By Flint Taylor

World:

Police and the Wealth of Nations: Déjà Vu or Unfinished Business? In the 1960s there was a wave of rioting, municipal rebellion, and challenges to property in the USA. In order to see that wave from a working-class point of view I went over to England to study riots and crime. In those days the theory was that the working-class could bring an end to capitalism, but historically before the working-class was “made,” it consisted of a mob of the poor given to crimes. The horrid ones against people – assault, rape, murder – were relatively few. The ones against property – highway robbery, burglary, shop-lifting, house-breaking, pocket-picking – tended to be new, i.e., from the 16th century at the birth of nation-state, or from the 18th century with high finance and imperialism. Health, Science, Education, and Welfare:

The government of the United States can pass laws in a few days to spend tens of trillions of dollars for war and the bailout of Wall Street and the bankers. Yet, those who ‘governn’, pass universal healthcare for themselves, but they cannot spend even one trillion dollars for universal health for those who are ‘governed’! This is what is considered, by the powers to be,  a democracy and part of the democratic way. — Roland Sheppard, Let the People  Vote on Healthcare

United States Coronavirus Pandemic Crisis: Lessons to be Learned

7/3/20 Coronavirus Update

Signe WilkinsonA Statue to American Leadership in the War Against COVID-19Even though the U.S. Intelligence Reports From January and February Warned About Aa Likely Pandemic, the Response of Our Anti-Science Government to the Coronavirus Pandemic Has Been a Fiasco!!!!

The Federal Government was completely unprepared.:

When President Trump took office in 2017, the White House’s National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense survived the transition intact. Its mission was the same as when I was asked to lead the office, established after the Ebola epidemic of 2014: to do everything possible within the vast powers and resources of the U.S. government to prepare for the next disease outbreak and prevent it from becoming an epidemic or pandemic.    One year later, I was mystified when the White House dissolved the office, leaving the country less prepared for pandemics like covid-19. The U.S. government’s slow and inadequate response to the new coronavirus underscores the need for organized, accountable leadership to prepare for and respond to pandemic threats.   In a health security crisis, speed is essential.    When this new coronavirus emerged, there was no clear White House-led structure to oversee our response, and we lost valuable time. Yes, we have capable and committed global and national disease-prevention and management organizations, as well as state and local health departments, all working overtime now. But even in prepared cities like Seattle, health systems are struggling to test patients and keep pace with growing caseloads. The specter of rapid community transmission and exponential growth is real and daunting. The job of a White House pandemics office would have been to get ahead: to accelerate the response, empower experts, anticipate failures, and act quickly and transparently to solve problems. — I Ran the White House Pandemic Office. Trump Closed It.

Even though the World Health Organization had, in March 2020, offered  coronavirus test kits to the world  and had advice on how to combat the coronavirus pendemic in March of   2020, “Effective quarantine is essential for tackling the coronavirus and this cannot happen without extensive testing for covid-19, says World Health Organization assistant director general Bruce Aylward. ‘To actually stop the virus,  China] had to do rapid testing of any suspect case, immediate isolation of anyone who was a confirmed or suspected case, and then quarantine the close contacts for 14 days so that they could figure out if any of them were infected,; Aylward told New Scientistin an exclusive interview.’’’Those were the measures that stopped transmission in China, not the big travel restrictions and lockdowns.’” — WHO Expert: We Need More Testing to Beat Coronavirus  The White House refused to take advantage of their information. And since then, the Trump adminstration has refuse help fom the World Health Organization, and even stop funding it!

Due Trump’s inaction and deprave indifference, as of today, there have been 2,890,588 coronavirus cases  and 132,1 01 coronavirus deaths! Trump has made the United States the world leader in case and coronavirus deaths!

Trump, although he had a late start, has made ‘America great again’!: Due Trump’s misleadership and depraved indifferance, the United States is the Cornavirus world’s leader. — With over 2,255,271 Coronaviruus cases, the United States is Number 1 in the World!  And  it is alsot he world’s number 1 in the World in Coronavirus Deaths! The total Uited States Coronavirus  deaths now, amount to Over 25% of the World’s Total Coronavus Deaths!
