The International Spy Museum in DC: Lies, Spies, and Paranoia The mainstream media have given rave notices to the new International Spy Museum, a striking edifice that is close by the National Mall in Washington, D.C.  The New York Times finds the museum “remarkable,” and the Washington Post credits the museum with taking an objective look at both intelligence analysis and clandestine operations.  However, there are serious shortcomings in a curation that has given the entire intelligence community a remarkable and stunning recruitment tool. By Melvin Goodman

Jared Kushner should be ignored – but we should remember this startling US Middle East plan from 100 years agoThe US state department today has neither spine nor skull nor any other bodily form of existence. Trump long ago eviscerated the poor old thing Almost exactly a hundred years ago, the president of the United States was searching for a “deal of the century” in the Middle East. Christian academic Henry King, of Oberlin College, was no Jared Kushner. Neither he nor the industrialist Charles Crane, whose family got rich making toilets in Chicago, were sons-in-law of the American president. But Woodrow Wilson sent them on an ambitious 1919 tour across the ruins of the Ottoman Empire to find out what could be done for the Muslim and Christian Arabs and the Jews of the Middle East – and the Turks and the Armenians and the Greeks.  A hundred years ago, they reported back to Washington with a series of recommendations which would cast dark shadows for us, even today. Unlike Kushner and the current Zionist US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, they didn’t swan into the region to talk to the richest Arabs they could find – nor did the Jews and Arabs of Palestine fail to turn up to meet them. Far from it. They wanted to know if President Wilson’s principle of national self-determination might be applied to the Holy Land  By Robert FiskObama: Front Man for Washington’s Imperialism                                  Clarity Press is a good publisher for authors willing to provide real information in place of the officially sanctioned controlled explanations of our time. A current example is Jeremy Kuzmarov’s assessment of Obama, Obama’s Unending WarsThe forty-fourth president comes across as a successful front man for corporate rule and Washington’s imperialism. Obama was the “drone king” whose regime bombed 7 Muslim countries, overthrew the democratic government in Hondurus, overthrew and murdered Gaddafi,  tried to do the same thing to Assad in Syria, overthrew the democratic government in Ukraine and demonized Russia and the Russian president, tried to undermine and overthrow the democratically elected Latin American presidents Morales, Chavez, and Ortega, constantly lied through his teeth, and met with the approval of the military/security complex and global capitalists.  Topping off these criminal events, Obama’s regime adopted the policy of murdering US citizens on suspicion alone without due process of law.  Execution orders were issued every Tuesday as Obama with CIA director John Brennan at his side chose presumed terrorists from mug shots and biographies prepared by no one knows who. “Some were just teenagers like a young girl who looked ‘less than her seventeen years.’” By Paul Craig Roberts Trump aide threatens one million immigrants with deportationWhile the White House escalates its attacks on immigrants, congressional Democrats are deepening their collaboration with Trump. Jeffrey Epstein Arrested for Sex Trafficking of MinorsJeffrey Epstein is being held at the federal lockup in Manhattan, according to law enforcement sources. Billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was arrested for allegedly sex traffickingdozens of minors in New York and Florida between 2002 and 2005, and will appear in court in New York on Monday, according to three law enforcement sources.  Epstein, who owns a New York City mansion and an island in the Caribbean, was being held at the federal lockup in Manhattan ahead of his court date.

Selling Children to Pedophiles is Profitable( Think of This Every Time a Politician says ‘Aneruca, God Bless’:    The Essence of Evil: Sex with Children Has Become Big Business in AmericaChildren, young girls—some as young as 9 years old—are being bought and sold for sex in America. The average age for a young woman being sold for sex is now 13 years old.  This is America’s dirty little secret.  Sex trafficking—especially when it comes to the buying and selling of young girls—has become big business in America, the fastest growing business in organized crime and the second most-lucrative commodity traded illegally after drugs and guns. As investigative journalist Amy Fine Collins notes, “It’s become more lucrative and much safer to sell malleable teens than drugs or guns. A pound of heroin or an AK-47 can be retailed once, but a young girl can be sold 10 to 15 times a day—and a ‘righteous’ pimp confiscates 100 percent of her earnings.” Consider this: every two minutes, a child is exploited in the sex industry. According to USA Todayadults purchase children for sex at least 2.5 million times a year in the United States.Environment:

‘Staggering’ UN Warning That Climate Crisis Disasters Now Occur Weekly Provokes Calls for Action“This is an emergency. We need political leadership that acts like it.” A “staggering” new warning from a top United Nations official that climate crisis-related disasters are now occurring at the rate of one per week, with developing nations isproportionately at risk, provoked calls for immediate global action to combat the human-caused climate emergency. By Jessica Corbett

One climate crisis disaster happening every week, UN warns Developing countries must prepare now for profound impact, disaster representative says Climate crisis disasters are happening at the rate of one a week, though most draw little international attention and work is urgently needed to prepare developing countries for the profound impacts, the UN has warned. Catastrophes such as cyclones Idai and Kenneth in Mozambique and the drought afflicting India make headlines around the world. But large numbers of “lower impact events” that are causing death, displacement and suffering are occurring much faster than predicted, said Mami Mizutori, the UN secretary-general’s special representative on disaster risk reduction. “This is not about the future, this is about today.”By Fiona Harvey Conservation Groups Challenge Logging and Burning Project in Idaho Roadless Area  The Caribou-Targhee National Forest just approved the Rowley Canyon Wildlife Enhancement Project that would cut and burn 1,666 acres of sagebrush, juniper, maple, and mountain mahogany trees with mechanized, track-based, mastication equipment.  But nothing about this project even marginally enhances habitat for wildlife.  If the Forest Service accurately labeled the project, it would have been called the “Rowley Canyon Weed Enhancement Project” or the “Rowley Canyon Fleece the Taxpayer Project” or even the “Rowley Canyon Wildlife Destruction Project.”By Mike Garrity‘Ignorance Is Strength’: Donald Trump buried a climate change report because ‘I don’t believe it’President Donald Trump on Monday dismissed a study produced by his own administration, involving 13 federal agencies and more than 300 leading climate scientists, warning of the potentially catastrophic impact of climate change. Why, you ask? “I don’t believe it,” Trump told reporters on Monday, adding that he had read “some” of the report. On one level, this shouldn’t be surprising. Trump’s views on climate change at this point are very, very well established. By Chris Cillizza

Civil Rights/Black Liberation:

When We See Him: Trump and the Central Park Five In 1989, the New York Times and other newspapers reported the rape of a white jogger in Central Park. Some thirty years later, on the eve of the airing of Ava DuVernay’s “When They See Us,” the Times looked back on the incident in an article entitled “The True Story of How a City in Fear Brutalized the Central Park Five,” conveniently ignoring the role the paper itself – like most of the media at the time – played in their brutalization. After all, this was the same newspaper that ran Donald Trump’s ad calling for the execution the so-called Central Park Five and that ran an editorial wondering “how could apparently well-adjusted youngsters turn into so savage a wolf pack?” By John G. Most Americans Can’t Afford to Pay Rent, Eat Food, Buy Stuff, or Get Sick (And It’s Just Going to Get WORSE)We are living in precarious times, and if you haven’t prepared for an economic collapse yet, it is time to start taking action. Despite what some “experts” would like you to believe, the US is on shaky financial ground. Several indicators suggest things are far worse than many think. Let’s take a look at them now. More than half of families in the US live in “asset poverty.” A recent study found that more than 63 percent of American children and 55 percent of Americans live in “asset poverty”. This means they have few or no assets to rely on in the event of a financial emergency such as a job loss, a medical crisis, recessions, or natural disasters. By Dagny Taggart

Asbestos-related cancers can occur as many as 50 years after exposure and deaths are now thought to be reaching their peak, years after the widespread industrial use of the carcinogen between the 1950s and 70s. The 1% are Eating Their 1% Brothers/Sisters:Meet the JPMorgan Whale that Ate Deutsche Bank’s Stock Trading Business Yesterday, Deutsche Bank announced it would be cutting its payroll by approximately 18,000 jobs over the next three years and exiting its stock trading business, along with other restructuring moves like creating a “bad bank” to hold toxic assets. What could possibly force a global bank to shed stock trading? According to the most recent report from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the regulator of national banks in the United States, four U.S. commercial banks made $8.79 billion in trading revenues in the first quarter of this year. Of that amount, JPMorgan Chase Bank NA represented 60 percent or $5.29 billion. (The other three banks were Citibank, Goldman Sachs Bank USA and Bank of America.) By Pam Martens and Russ Martens

Israel Disappeared Evidence of Ethnic Cleansing in Palestine to Discredit Nakba: Investigation Israel has a secret department which makes critical documents disappear, especially documents related to what the Palestinians refer to as the Nakba of 1948, the year that marks the foundation of the state of Israel and the displacement of more than 750,000 Palestinians from their villages, towns and cities in lands that make up the border of Israel. An investigative report by Haaretz revealed that an Israeli Defense Ministry department called the “Director of security of the Defense establishment” or MALMAB (its acronym in Hebrew) is tasked with wiping out archives on Nakba,  or catastrophe in Arabic, which opposes the Israeli version of the event.Honduras: 10 years of the coup government – 10 years of struggle for the Honduran peopleSheltered in the darkness of the night, in the early hours of 28 June 2009, hundreds of soldiers entered the presidential residence and captured José Manuel Zelaya Rosales, the legitimately elected president of Honduras.  Health, Education, and Welfare:

The government of the United States can pass laws in a few days to spend tens of trillions of dollars for war and the bailout of Wall Street and the bankers. Yet, those who ‘govern’, pass universal healthcare for themselves, but they cannot spend even one trillion dollars for universal health for those who are ‘governed’! This is what is considered, by the powers the to be,  a democracy and part of the democratic way. — Roland Sheppard, Let The People Vote on Healthcare!

Giant US healthcare corporations fear hostile takeover by high-tech companies While the US population has expanded by 75 percent since 1960, to approximately 325 million people, healthcare expenditure, in constant dollars, has risen approximately 2000 percent. UnitedHealth Group Inc. brought a lawsuit earlier this year against a former information technology executive, David Smith, accusing him of stealing trade secrets and taking them to his new employer. This was the still unnamed joint venture known as ABC, a healthcare initiative that was launched in 2018 by Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase that supposedly intends to address the bloated health industry’s inefficiencies and high costs. By Benjamin Mateus
