U.S.:

The United States is not a Democracy (A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly)! Only the 1%, through their ownership of the Republicrats and who profit from war and the war budget, vote for War and the war budget — A policy, which Gore Vidal called a  Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace.— The 99% Should Decide On War — Not Just The 1% Who Profit From War!  Under a Democracy, The 99% would have the right to vote on the policy of Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace!

Russia and the Democrats Two years ago authors Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes wrote in their book Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign that within 24 hours of her 2016 electoral loss, Hillary Clinton’s senior campaign staff decided to blame the loss on Russian interference. Given the apparent source of the charge  opposition researchfunded by the Clinton campaign, the move seemed both desperate and pathetic— a thread for Clinton’s true believers to hang onto, an effort to keep campaign contributions rolling in and a ploy to cleave liberals from the left through red-baiting. The “Barr Summary” Is Meaningless. Release the Entire Report. From the moment the Mueller investigation began to the moment Attorney General William Barr released his “summary” of Mueller’s labors, Donald Trump acted like the guiltiest man on Earth. His efforts to obstruct the inquiry were egregiousvocal and constant, his denials facile and unconvincing in their serial repetitions. His now-notorious Twitter eruption the weekend before the report’s conclusion was every inch the child frantically deflecting blame after pushing his sister down the stairs By Wiliam Rives Pitt

Hypocrites Much? US Government to Assess Russian ‘Influence’ in Venezuela The legislation would require for the U.S. State Department to provide a threat assessment and strategic approach for dealing with Russia’s military cooperation in Venezuela.

Ecological Civilization: Could China Become a Model for Saving the Earth? Industrialized agriculture is threatening humanity with catastrophe. It feeds global warming and dissolves societies. In addition, its pesticides contaminate and poison drinking water and food. Undoing rural America I reached this conclusion from working for the US Environmental Protection Agency for twenty-five years. I summarized my experience in my 2014 book, Poison Spring: The Secret History of Pollution and the EPA. This essay reflects my knowledge from that experience. By Evaggelos Vallianatos

‘We Can’t Trust the Permafrost Anymore’: Doomsday Vault at Risk in NorwayJust over a decade after it first opened, the world’s “doomsday vault” of seeds is imperiled by climate change as the polar region where it’s located warms faster than any other area on the planet.  The Svalbard Global Seed Vault, which opened in late February 2008, was built by the organization Crop Trust and the Norwegian government on the island of Svalbard next to the northernmost town in the world with more than 1,000 residents, Longyearbyen. “Not good.” By Eoin Higgins

Who keeps buying California’s scarce water? Saudi Arabia Saudi-based Almarai owns 15,000 acres of an irrigated valley – but what business does a foreign food production company have drawing resources from a US desert? Lauren MarkhamCivil Rights/Black Liberation:

The new The Anti-Monopoly (anti-Corporate Democrat) Coalition: Danny Haiphong  BAR contributor:Drown Sanders and Strangle Self-determination: What the Rich Will Do to Stay in PowerThe corporate Democrats are flooding the presidential race with professional servants of the rich to drown Sanders and his loyal base of support. “The Black left, will have to challenge the monopoly on wealth and power held by the white capitalist oligarchs.”  Texas House Democrat Beto O’Rourke is the latest to enter the Democratic Party primary. O’Rourke is the young white knight of the oligarchic capitalist class. His losing bid to Ted Cruz in the 2018 election garnered significant attention from the corporate media. O’Rourke represents one of two main pillars for preserving the rule of the rich in this period of terminal capitalist crisis. The rich are attempting to drown Bernie Sanders while maintaining their ongoing effort to strangle the self-determination of the oppressed at home and abroad.

Margaret Kimberley , BAR editor and senior columnist: Freedom Rider: Julian Assange and Robert Mueller Russiagate has imploded, but the Democratic Party still wants to stifle dissent and make certain that there will be no Wikileaks in the future. “The plights of Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange reveal the hypocrisy and hollowness of liberal America.” The investigation known as Russiagate has officially wrapped up. Special counsel Robert Mueller submitted his report to the Attorney General who promptly announced that it contained no proof of Trump campaign collusion with the Russian government. The daily onslaught of misleading and in some cases false assertions will diminish. But Russiagate will never truly go away. The Democrats will milk it for as long as they can.

Bullock: A True Defense of Smiley and West Two men with track records of advocacy and activism were kicked to the curb in favor of a man with practically no history of Black advocacy. “The cult of Obama would brook no dissenters.” Tavis Smiley and Cornel West faced tremendous criticism from large sectors of the African American population for daring to stick to their own political principles and attempting to hold Barack Obama, the U.S. empire’s first Black head of state to account to said principles, in the grand tradition of Black activists, intellectuals and media. By attempting to remain true to their own political positions, and to positions most of their critics themselves held prior to the election of Obama, the two men, one a media personality, the other an academic and activist, fell from grace in elite black circlesand in the popular opinion of the black masses. This fall, in this author’s opinion, was the result of the black electorate who felt some need to protect Obama and who largely were unaware of the role and purpose of the U.S. president, combined with the Black “mis-leadership class” who took on the duty of providing cover for the president, thereby exposing their own lack of political principles.

After 60 years of silence on class taxation, a ‘labor leader’ Speeks up.: Labor Leader Demands Tax Code for Working People to Replace GOP Tax Scam for the Rich “For too long, the tax code has been structured to benefit the super wealthy, private equity, major corporations, and Wall Street rather than working people and main street.” By Jessica Corbett’

Consumer Price Index Year-to-Year Growth  The CPI-U (consumer price index) is the broadest measure of consumer price inflation for goods and services published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). While the headline number usually is the seasonally-adjusted month-to-month change, the formal CPI is reported on a not-seasonally-adjusted basis, with annual inflation measured in terms of year-to-year percent change in the price index. In the charts  we show two SGS-Alternate CPI estimates: One based on the pre-1990 official methodology for computing the CPI-U, and the other based on the methodology which was employed prior to 1980.

Health, Education, and Welfare:

The government of the United States can pass laws in a few days to spend tens of trillions of dollars for war and the bailout of Wall Street and the bankers. Yet, those who ‘govern’, pass universal healthcare for themselves, but they cannot spend even one trillion dollars for universal health for those who are ‘governed’! This is what is considered, by the powers the to be,  a democracy and part of the democratic way. — Roland Sheppard, Let The People Vote on Healthcare!
