From Extinction Rebellion’s The Eve of the Catastrophe:… “To all intents and purposes 1.5 degrees is gone” So the announcement that was made that day, 8th February 2024 may have escaped the attention of many, as they worried about the prospect of worldwide conflict, as they cried for those who bore the cruelty of imperialism, as they fretted about how they could even put food on the table. It was an announcement that a boundary had been transgressed – a line that humanity had been warned not to cross – that for a full year, average global temperatures had been higher than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures.… So that is the context against which we received this news. To all intents and purposes 1.5 degrees is gone. Yes, you can make objections to this assertion. It’s an El Niño year, and there may be fluctuations downwards that see the warming trend dip back below 1.5 degrees in the next few years. But ultimately with every COP disappointment, and the fact that we are yet to feel the full effect of the greenhouse gasses humanity has already released into the atmosphere, it’s time to face our failure.
We’ve Reach the Point of Nor Return!
At this Point in History, we Need A Green Industrial Revolution!
We Must Hold These Monsters to Account!
Since environmental illness and destruction are a global concern, it requires all of humanity to act collectively, in our overall interests for our survival as a species, to correct the problem and to remove the obstacle of capitalism. It requires a society where humanity has social, economic, and political control over the entire environment. Such a society, an Ecosocialist society, is needed to ensure that all decisions affecting the environment are under the democratic control of humankind so that the production of goods will be done for the needs and survival of humanity, instead of the production and the destruction of humanity and other species for profit. We Need to Sieze the Means of Capitalist Production/Destruction To Stop Catastrophe and Build a New World of Internation Coperation and Production for the Needs and Survival of All Life! With common ownership of the means of production, and common control and protection of all property and wealth, science and society will be in harmony with the ecosystem and humanity’s future. With these goals we can begin to build a more effective environmental movement. As we continue to organize against capitalism and its destructive course, we can and will transform the world!
After WWI, Rosa Luxenburg Coined the Slogan: ‘Socialism or Barbaism’!
In Today’s World it is Either Ecosocialism or Ecocide!
