Can’t AffordAnother Example Capitalism as a Failed  System: World Capilalism Ws Aware of the Danger of Cornovavirus Threat Over 5 Years Ago and Did Nothing!:  Under Capitalism — Human Lives Don’t Matter

Capitalism Does Not, and Never Has, Worked for the Masses! In Its Death Agony, Capitalism Is Traveling About The World Like The Four Horsemen of the The Apocalypse, Spreading  Racism,  War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death. The future of Humanity Is Now At stake!

Since World War I ‘The War To End All Wars’ There Have Been Perpetual Wars for Perpetual Peace, this Laura Gray’s cartoon from the front page of The Militant August 18, 1945, Under the Banner Headline: “There Is No Peace”, is Still True for Today’s World!During This Economic Crisis, Capitalism’s Three-Point Political Program: 1.Austerity,2. Scapegoat Blacks, Minorities, and ‘Illegal’ Immigrants for Unemployment, and 3.  The Iron Heel!    For Decades, Blacks Have Been Subjected to The Iron Heel!   Currently, the US Capitalist Class is Divided Over When — Not If, to Apply It to Everyone!

Due to Years of Austerity, Cuts to Public Health Care, And An Anti-Science and Profiteering President, The United States Now Leads the World In  Coronavirus Cases and Deaths in the World!

Always Remember:  That President Obama, With a Majority Democrat Legislature Supported the Wall Street Bailout and Remember, That he Established, in writing,  the United States Capitalist Austerity Program. —  The Race to the Bottom/Pauperization of the 99%!

Democracy?: As the Capitalist Robber Barons Steal from the 99%,  Only the 1% Voted For Austerity!   The 99% Should Decide On Austerity — Not Just The 1%, Who Profit From Austerity!!  Under Austerity, All of the World Will Eventually Be Pauperized, Humbled, and Desecrated Like Greece and Puerto Rico.!   Socialism Means True Democracy, that the 99% Will Rule, Not the Few!

We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can’t have both— Louis D. Brandeis

Quotes of the Day:

Biden Has the Power to do something! He chooses not to! : Declaration of a climate emergency would be similar to one issued by former President Donald Trump boosting construction of a southern border wall. It would allow Biden to redirect spending to accelerate renewable energy such as wind and solar power and speed the nation’s transition away from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. The declaration also could be used as a legal basis to block oil and gas drilling or other projects, although such actions would likely be challenged in court by energy companies or Republican-led states. — Biden Holds Off — For Now — On Climate Emergency Declaration

Emergency Climate Action Needed Now!: Extreme heat has killed  more than 1,000 people in Portugal and Spain in recent days, and France is experiencing what experts are calling a “heat apocalypse.” Thousands of people in the region have been forced to evacuate due to wildfires. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is bracing for its hottest day on record, with temperatures expected to climb even higher on Tuesday.     It’s not just Europe that is being seared. The United StatesChina, and parts of Africa and the Middle East are also suffering from heatwaves and wildfires, which climate scientists have long warned will increase in frequency and severity as a result of unmitigated greenhouse gas pollution.    And yet, “we continue to feed our fossil fuel addiction,” Guterres lamented Monday. Global energy market disruptions triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have led many nations to double down on coal, gas, and oil extraction at a moment when investments in a swift green transition are sorely needed.   Most troubling of all, said Guterres, is that governments of the world “are failing to work together as a multilateral community.”  “Nations continue to play the blame game instead of taking responsibility for our collective future,” he said. “We cannot continue this way. We must rebuild trust and come together—to keep 1.5 alive and to build climate-resilient communities.” — ‘Collective Action or Collective Suicide’: UN Chief Pleads for Real Climate Response

United States:

The United States is not a Democracy (A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly)! Only the 1%, through their ownership of the Reublicrats and who profit from war and the war budget, vote for War and the war budget — A policy, which Gore Vidal called a  Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace. — The 99% Should Decide On War — Not Just The 1% Who Profit From War!  Under a Democracy, The 99% would have the right to vote on the policy of Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace! The United States takes from th poor and gives to the Rich. Taxthe Rich!  — They Can Afford to Pay!

Saudi Prince Taunts Biden for Caring More About Khashoggi Than Shireen Abu Akleh     Mohammed bin Salman tried to exploit Joe Biden’s failure to condemn Israel for the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh to deflect blame for the Saudi assassination of Jamal Khashoggi. SAUDI CROWN PRINCE Mohammed bin Salman reportedly accused President Joe Biden of hypocrisy during their meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday by asking why the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi seemed to matter more to him than the fatal shooting of Al Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Akleh.

‘No More Time to Lose’: Biden Rebuked for Pushing Off Climate Emergency Declaration “The clock is rapidly ticking towards inevitable, irreversible climate catastrophe,” said one climate campaigner.     The White House faced backlash from climate advocates on Wednesday after it confirmed that President Joe Biden won’t be declaring a climate emergency during his speech at a former coal-fired power plant in Massachusetts, remarks that will come as swaths of the Northern Hemisphere are grappling with punishing heatwaves and wildfires

Biden’s Nominee for Peace Board Is a Prominent Supporter of Human Rights Abuses President Joe Biden has shocked the human rights community by nominating Edward Gabriel, a longtime lobbyist for the Moroccan government, to the board of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). Having an outspoken supporter of a repressive monarchy in such a position has raised alarms among supporters of the congressionally funded institute that promotes conflict resolution and prevention, diplomacy, mediation, human rights and democracy.      In one of the most egregious examples of Washington’s infamous revolving doors, Gabriel followed his tenure as U.S. ambassador to Morocco under President Bill Clinton to become a lobbyist for the Moroccan regime — essentially switching from advancing U.S. interests in the Moroccan capital of Rabat to advancing Moroccan interests in Washington.

What Happens When Big Brother Meets Big Tech Author and law professor Maurice Stucke warns that as fundamental privacy rights vanish, your personal data can and will be used against you. University of Tennessee law professor Maurice Stucke, author of “Breaking Away: How to Regain Control Over Our Data, Privacy, and Autonomy” has been critical as tech firms have grown into giant “data-opolies” profiting from surveillance and manipulation. In a conversation with the Institute for New Economic Thinking, he warns that legislative inaction and wider government complicity in this surveillance are eroding fundamental rights to privacy along with the ability of federal agencies to regulate Big Tech.

Cori Bush Arrested at Abortion Rights Rally After Unveiling Bill on Pill Access Bush, AOC, Pressley and at least 13 other House Democrats were arrested at the abortion rights demonstration.     Rep. Cori Bush, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ilhan Omar and at least 13 other Democratic members of Congress were among more than 30 activists arrested during a nonviolent protest for abortion rights in front of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.     The lawmakers, who were arrested for blocking traffic on First Street, NE, as part of the protest, are expected to be released and fined for the civil disobedience action.    The protest came on the heels of Rep. Bush and Sen. Tina Smith’s introduction of legislation on Monday that would codify national standards for administering abortion medication in order to protect access as extremist Republicans rush to drastically restrict reproductive health care.

 Environment: Ecocide or Ecosocialism!:

Corrosive Seas Introduction. It is impossible to overstate the importance of the ocean to life on Earth. Covering 71% of the planet’s surface, it contains 97% of the world’s surface water and is central to the great biogeochemical cycles that define the biosphere and make life possible. Marine plants generate half of the world’s breathable oxygen. Millions of species of animals live in the ocean. Seafood is a primary source of protein for three billion people, and hundreds of millions work in the fishing industry.     The ocean’s metabolism — the constant flows and exchanges of energy and matter that have continued for hundreds of millions of years — is a vital part of the Earth System. As famed oceanographer Sylvia Earle writes, our fate and the ocean’s are inextricably intertwined.     “Our lives depend on the living ocean — not just the rocks and water, but stable, resilient, diverse living systems that hold the world on a steady course favorable to humankind.”[1]

Fossil Fuel Industry to Earth: Burn Baby Burn!

Fossil Capitalism: The Only System The New York Times Can Publicly Imagine Corporate Fantasies on a Planet That’s Not Waiting Until 2040 A recent Times opinion video rightly takes down idealistic-sounding pledges recently made by CEOs of some of the world’s largest corporations at the World Economic Forum. Commanding heights business promises of “net zero” carbon emissions and a new “environmental capitalism” wherein “economic growth and global trade” continue without climate ruin amount to what Times video producer Agnes Walton and filmmaker Kristopher Knight call “corporate fantasies.”    In reality, Walton and Knight show, the pledges fall far short of net zero — the point at which companies and nations remove as much carbon from the atmosphere as they emit. They “might be worse than just empty promises,” the Times video argues: “they could obstruct efforts to stop climate change before it’s too late.”    Corporate Fantasies on a Planet That’s Not Waiting Until 2040.    A recent Times opinion video rightly takes down idealistic-sounding pledges recently made by CEOs of some of the world’s largest corporations at the World Economic Forum. The High Costs of the 1%’s Deferred  Maintenance Pollicy: Revealed: US Cities Refusing to Replace Toxic Lead Water Pipes Unless Residents Pay Elena Bautista didn’t pay much attention to the work crews that rolled down her street last year. They planned to remove water pipes made of lead, a toxin that can permanently damage children’s brains.   But they skipped the tenement building where Bautista and her two kids lived.     They dug up pipes only at the homes of those who paid or took out loans for thousands of dollars, as well as under the public streets. Worse, the removal work risked causing a significant spike of toxic water for weeks, maybe months, in the homes of those unable to pay for it.

As Questions of Evidence Destruction Hit the Secret Service, a Book Reveals that Secret Service Agents Spread the Big Lie of a Stolen Election on Social Media Scandal is once again swirling around the Secret Service. This time it’s over the destruction of U.S. government records in the form of text messages sent by Secret Service agents and officials on the pivotal days of January 5-6, 2021 when plans for, and the attack of, the Capitol were taking place. The timeline around the destruction of the records is as follows:

The United States and Eurasia: Some Geopolitical Reflections at a Time of Global Crisis “We cannot think about geopolitics without rising above our national horizons and learning to see the world from elsewhere. It is not enough to support our comrades who are fighting on both sides of the Russian border, especially Sotsialniy Rukh, the Ukrainian “Social Movement,” we must also listen to them and learn.”

“We’re Back!”: Trade Unions Rise Up – But How to Win?     Britain is set for a summer strikewave, with posties and rail workers taking strike action, and public sector unions rejecting the government’s latest pay offer. This poses the need for coordinated action and a bold socialist programs. This year’s Durham Miners’ Gala – one of the largest in recent memory, with 200,000 attending – and Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival both saw huge numbers. There was a defiant mood at both events amongst rank-and-file trade unionists and workers.     This is no surprise, given that these come at a time when the trade union movement as a whole is finding its feet again.     Yesterday afternoon, for example, the CWU announced that more than 115,000 Royal Mail workers will be out on strike, following an overwhelming 97.6% vote in favour of action, on a 77% turnout.

Education, Health, and Welfare:

The government of the United States can pass laws in a few days to spend tens of trillions of dollars for war and the bailout of Wall Street and the bankers. Yet, those who pass universal healthcare for  themselves, but they cannot spend even one trillion dollars for universal health for those who are ‘governed’! This is what is considered, by the powers to be,  a democracy and part of the democratic way. — Roland Sheppard, Let the People  Vote on Healthcare!

US Counted Over 126,000 New COVID Infections Yesterday. What Are We Doing? How much we come to regret our inaction will be counted in corpses once the snow melts. Afriend’s little girl couldn’t come out to play with my daughter the other day. She had the sniffles, and Dad was playing it safe, because his next door neighbors all have COVID. One of them works in an elder care facility, where my friend says the virus is moving like wildfire.     Meanwhile, a relative just wrote to me with an email headline reading, “It’s in the building…” She works for the town, and her fellow employees at the tiny town hall are going down with COVID one by one by one, popping like virus firecrackers. State law prohibits closing the town hall under the present circumstances, so someone always has to be there during business hours. Rust never sleeps; neither does COVID.

Big Pharma Has Raised Drug Prices 1,186 Times This Year, Analysis Shows “We must put an end to drug corporations’ unfettered ability to dictate prices at the expense of patients.” The U.S. pharmaceutical industry exercised its virtually unlimited pricing power to hike costs for patients again this month as Senate Democrats made progress toward a limited deal to regulate out-of-control prescription drug prices, which are forcing millions of people to ration their medication or go without it entirely.     A new analysis released Wednesday by Patients for Affordable Drugs estimates that pharmaceutical companies in the U.S. have raised drug prices 1,186 times so far this year, further padding their bottom lines while intensifying the already overwhelming cost burden for patients.
