The Intercept reached out to several television stations that it could identify as having run Ed Newsfeed stories, including KPVM and KLAS-TV in Nevada, KTVK in Arizona, and Fox34 (KJTV) in Texas. No representative returned request for comment.     Blanks Jr. confirmed that “there are no requirements for TV news stations as far as attributing the content to Ed Newsfeed” and described the program as a “free service, run by a network of seasoned broadcast professionals, [and] offered to stations to be able to use video and interviews in any manner they see fit.” Pointing to budget cuts in the struggling news industry, he added: “The majority of news stations do not have an education reporter, so the goal is to help them bring innovative education stories, as well as heart-warming people stories, tied to education topics to their viewers.” — School Privatization lobby Places Fake News On Local Stations

Only the 1%, through. their ownershipof the Reublicrats, who profit from war and the war budget, voted for War and the war budget — A policy, which Gore Vidal called a  Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace. — The 99% Should Decide On War — Not Just The 1% Who Profit From War!  Under a Democracy, The 99% would have the right to vote on the policy of Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace! AOC Leads 110 Representatives Demanding a Living Wage for Congressional Staff  Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) is the lead signer of a letter from 110 representatives to the House Appropriations Committee requesting bigger budgets for their offices. The representatives are asking for more money so they can pay their staff fairer wages, allowing them to afford to live in the expensive Washington, D.C. area.     “For years, pay and benefits for the staff of Member offices, leadership offices, and committees have fallen farther and farther behind what is offered in the private sector,” the letter reads. “At the same time, the cost of living here in our nation’s capital has risen substantially, placing opportunities such as homeownership, rental housing, and childcare out of reach for many.” By Sharon Zhang
What’s the Difference Between a Waitress and a Private Equity Partner? (Their Tax Rate) If the waitress works in an upscale restaurant and earns a decent living, there is a good chance that she is paying a higher tax rate than a private equity partner. The reason is that private equity (PE) partners get most of their pay in the form of “carried interest.” This is money that is paid to them as a share of the returns on the money they manage. Since private equity partners are rich and powerful, their carried interest payments are taxed at the capital gains tax rate of 20 percent, instead of the 37 percent top tax rate that people earning millions a year would be paying. Environment:Rising Floods Threaten Danish Financial System Stormier seas and more frequent floods can cause havoc anywhere. The Danish financial system is now growing apprehensive. Flooding caused by storm surges and general changes in climate give rise to misery around the world, destroying homes and livelihoods and forcing the migration of hundreds of thousands of people. The financial impact of floods can also impose severe economic strains, and not just in the developing world: the Danish financial system now fears growing losses to come. By Kieran CookeNorwegian ‘People vs. Arctic Oil’ Case Heads to European Human Rights Court “We have to take action now to limit irreversible damage to our climate and ecosystems to ensure livelihoods for the coming generations,” said one activist. After repeated rulings from Norwegian courts that the nation’s oil policy does not violate its constitution, six young climate activists and two environmental groups on Tuesday announced an application for a related case to the European Court of Human Rights. By Jessica Corbett Share of Fossil Fuels in Global Energy Mix ‘Has Not Moved by an Inch’ in a Decade “We are waking up to the bitter reality that the climate policy promises over the past 10 years have mostly been empty words,” said the executive director of REN21, which released the new report. Murder of Winston Smith and Future of George Floyd Square – State Violence Continues in Minneapolis The murder of Winston Smith and the attempted reopening of George Floyd Square show that the state has no interest in stopping its violence. Just over a month ago, former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering George Floyd. The verdict came days after another former police officer, Kim Potter, shot and killed Daunte Wright. The state and mainstream media did an excellent job portraying Chauvin as a bad apple when in reality he was a sacrificial lamb being sacrificed to protect the racist-capitalist power structures. Chauvin hasn’t even been sentenced yet. But as the National Guard went home and the razor wire fences came down, Minneapolis leaders decided that enough time had been wasted on honoring George Floyd’s memory. By Adnan Ahmed

World Capitalist Imprialism Created Apartheid Israel, After the G7 Meets, — More Arab Genocide!:   After Far-Right Marchers Chant ‘Death to Arabs,’ New Israeli Government Bombs Gaza  “The problem is bigger than Netanyahu—it’s apartheid.” Just hours after far-right marchers chanted “Death to Arabs!” during a demonstration in the streets of Jerusalem, Israeli war planes bombarded the occupied Gaza Strip early Wednesday morning in the first series of airstrikes launched by the new government of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, a former IDF officer who once boasted that he has “killed a lot of Arabs.” By Jake Johnson The Global COVID-19 Inequality Virus Thanks to the wonders of global capitalism, globalisation, neoliberalism and adjacent ideologies, we live in a world where nearly half of humanity is forced to scrape by on less than $5.50 a day – roughly the price of a Big Mac in the USA. Worse, during the last 40 years – around the same time neoliberalism was introduced – the wealthiest 1% more than doubled their income, leaving the rest behind. Still worse, the global elite (1%) causes twice as much carbon as the bottom half of the world. By Thomas Klikauer and Nadine CampbellG7 Summit Airs West’s Dirty Laundry The recent meeting of the G7 nations was heralded as being a comeback for America and its allies, with the aim of stifling the rise of China. But instead, the summit only confirmed the decline and disunity of Western imperialism. By Daniel MorleyTo Address Increasing Inequality and Global Poverty, We Must Cancel Debt Massive debt levels are a feature of contemporary capitalism that cannot be eradicated without radical change, says political scientist Éric Toussaint. “The indebtedness of the working classes is directly connected to the widening poverty gap and increasing inequality, and to the demolition of the welfare state that most governments have been working at since the 1980s,” says Toussaint in this exclusive interview for Truthout.  By C.J. Education, Health, Science, and Welfare:
The government of the United States can pass laws in a few days to spend tens of trillions of dollars for war and the bailout of Wall Street and the bankers. Yet, those who pass universal healthcare for themselves, but cannot spend even one trillion dollars for universal health for those who are ‘governed’! This is what is considered, by the powers to be,  a democracy and part of the democratic way. — Roland Sheppard, Let the People  Vote on Healthcare!
