Since World War I, ‘the war to end all wars’, there have been perpetual wars for perpetual peace, this Laura Gray’s cartoon from the front page of The Militant August 18, 1945, under banner headline: “There Is No Peace” Could Still Be Published Today!

Democratic Socialism

Quote of the Day:

So that the question stands as to what we are willing to do, how we are willing to say no, to withdraw from that system and begin, within our community, to start the function and to build new institutions that will speak to our needs. In Lowndes County, we developed something called the Lowndes County Freedom Organization – it is a political party. The Alabama law says that if you have a party, you must have an emblem. We chose for the emblem a black panther – a beautiful black animal – which symbolizes the strength and dignity of black people. An animal that never strikes back until he’s backed so far into the wall that he’s got nothing to do but spring out. And when he springs, he does not stop.   Now there is a party in Alabama that is called the Alabama Democratic Party. It is all white. It has as its emblem a white rooster and the words “white supremacy for the right.” Now the gentlemen of the press, because they are advertisers and because most of them are white and because they are produced by that white institution, never calls the Lowndes County Freedom Organization by its name – but rather they call it the Black Panther Party. Our question is, why don’t they call the Alabama Democratic Party the White Cock Party? [laughter]    It is clear to me that just points out America’s problem with sex and color – not our problem, [laughter] not our problem.    It is now white America that is going to deal with those problems of sex and color.    If we were to be real and honest, we would have to admit, we would have to admit, that most people in this country see things black and white. We have to do that, all of us do: we live in a country that’s geared that way. White people would have to admit that they are afraid to go into a black ghetto at night. They’re afraid, that’s a fact.     They’re afraid because they’d be “beat up,” “lynched,” “looted,” “cut up,” et cetera, et cetera. That happens to black people inside the ghetto every day, incidentally. And white people are afraid of that.    So you get a man to do it for you – a policeman. And now you figure his mentality, where he’s afraid of black people. The first time a black man jumps, that white man’s gonna shoot him. He’s gonna shoot him.   So police brutality is going to exist on that level, because of the incapability of that white man to see black people come together and to live in the conditions.    This country is too hypocritical; and we cannot adjust ourselves to its hypocrisy. The only time I hear people talk about nonviolence is when black people move to defend themselves against white people. Black people cut themselves every night in the ghetto – don’t anybody talk about nonviolence.    Lyndon Baines Johnson is busy bombing the hell out of Vietnam – don’t nobody talk about nonviolence. White people beat up black people every day – don’t nobody talk about nonviolence. But as soon as black people start to move, the double standard comes into being. You can’t defend yourself — that’s what you’re saying. ‘Cause you show me a man who advocates aggressive violence that would be able to live in this country. Show him to me.  —StokelyCarmichael, Speech at University of California, Berkeley

U.S.:

The United States is not a Democracy (A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly)! Only the 1%, through their ownership of the Republicrats and who profit from war and the war budget, vote for War and the war budget — A policy, which Gore Vidal called a  Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace. — The 99% Should Decide On War — Not Just The 1% Who Profit From War!  Under a Democracy, The 99% would have the right to vote on the policy of Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace! The United States takes from the poor and gives to the Rich.

The Game is Rigged Let’s not beat around the bush. The game is rigged. The fix is in. I’m not just talking about the neofascistic Donald Trump, the Republican Party, the Republican-controlled United States Senate and the fake-impeachment trial that body just concluded. I’m talking about their neoliberal enablers, the Democrats too.Certain Depressing Things Explained The deeply conservative corporate and imperialist Democratic Party politics and media complex is determined to deny the progressive neo-New Deal Democrat Bernie Sanders the presidential nomination. USA: chaos in Iowa – support for Bernie shows potential for socialist ideas! Yet again, necessity has been revealed through accident as the rotten nature of American capitalist democracy was exposed in Iowa. The political importance of the small Midwestern state was built up for months as countless candidate dollars and hours were spent in an effort to generate early momentum for November. Instead, the world was treated to a trainwreck of unimaginable incompetence—or cynical sabotage—depending on your appetite for conspiracy theories. However, leaving aside the fact that the “data inconsistencies” were the hellspawn of Shadow, Inc.—a company run by three Hillary Clinton associates—we need not resort to conspiracies to explain what happened. Marxists must always look for the class roots of contradictory phenomena to shed light on events.

Record-Breaking Temperature of Nearly 65ºF Logged in Antarctica as Scientists Sound Alarm Over Rapid Ice Melt The Antarctic peninsula was warmer than the United Kingdom when the the temperature was recorded Friday.  Climate scientists on Friday revealed the latest troubling new observation in Antarctica, illustrating the consequences of the rapid warming of the area brought on by the manmade climate crisis. As The Guardianreported Friday, researchers stationed at the Esperanza research station at the northern tip of the Antarctic peninsula found that temperatures reached 64.9º Fahrenheit (18.3º Celsius)—the highest temperature logged since scientists began recording the continent’s temperature in 1961.  By Julia ConleyTrump’s Final Plan to Open Treasured Public Lands in Utah Called ‘Sellout’ to Big Oil The administration’s new managment plans “are the latest in a series of insults… that began when Trump illegally dismantled Bears Ears and Grand Staircase at the behest of corporate interests two years ago.” By Jessica Corbett

Black Liberation/ Civil Rights:

Who Really Killed Malcolm X?Fifty-five years later, the case may be reopened. For more than half a century, scholars have maintained that prosecutors convicted the wrong men in the assassination of Malcolm X. Now, 55 years after that bloody afternoon in February 1965, the Manhattan district attorney’s office is reviewing whether to reinvestigate the murder. Some new evidence comes from a six-part documentary called “Who Killed Malcolm X?,” streaming on Netflix Feb. 7, which posits that two of the men convicted could not have been at the scene that day. Instead it points the finger at four members of a Nation of Islam mosque in Newark, N.J., depicting their involvement as an open secret in their city. One even appeared in a 2010 campaign ad for then-Newark mayor Cory Booker. Last night I watched Fusion TV’s: A First Look: Who Killed Malcolm X?Three men were arrested for the murder of Malcolm X, but only one confessed. Activist Abdur Rahman Muhammad was always skeptical of the case, and is convinced the police got the wrong men. As new links are revealed, can he discover who killed Malcolm X? (I was interviewed for this program, but my video was dropped from the final cut. They interview me for about 45 minutes, while being interviewed I based my remarks upon what I wrote in two of my eyewitness essays.:  The Day the Music Died: Malcolm X’s Assassination, Feb. 21, 1965 and Why the Government The Assassinated Malcolm X  And Martin Luther King Jr.)

If you watched the  series,  did not learn anything about the historical background of the sixties, The Nation of Islam, Malcolm X, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Vietnam War; you would think that the Newark Mosque of the Nation of Islam ordered the assassination of Malcolm X. Exactly the position of the government. Only this tv show stated that jealousy and money were the reasons the Nation of  Islam assassinated Malcolm.

They interviewd Zak Kondo, but hide what Zac Kondo said about John Ali. They also intervied John Ali, who has been implicated in Malcolm’s Assassination:

On pages 327-329 of the book, Conspiracys: Unravelling the assassination of Malcolm X (Nubia Press, 1992, Washington) Baba Zak Kondo documents that John Ali was most likely an FBI agent. On page 328 Kondo wrote: As previously noted, Malcolm, who had a clear understanding of the internal workings of the NOI leadership, stated in early June 1964, that Ali was running the NOI to steal as much money as he could from its treasury. This could well explain why Ali was considered an informant. Most FBI informants were/are motivated by money, a point not lost on Frank Donner: Victims, with good reason, typically charge that inform and defectors are motivated primarily by greed. The bureau knows and invariably weaves financial considerations into its snitch jacket scripts. (Age of Surveillance, p. 193

In the 1970s, the public learned about COINTELPRO and other secret FBI programs directed towards infiltrating and disrupting civil rights organizations during the 1950s and 1960s. J Edgar Hoover, who led the government’s COINTELPRO said… ‘there must be a goal of preventing a coalition of militant black nationalist groups, prevent the rise of a black messiah that can unify and electrify the black nationalist movement, along with preventing militant black nationalist groups and leaders from gaining respectability, by discrediting them to the community’. John Ali, national secretary of the Nation of Islam, was identified as an FBI undercover agent.  Malcolm X had confided in a reporter that Ali had exacerbated tensions between him and Elijah Muhammad. He considered Ali his “archenemy” within the Nation of Islam leadership. On February 20, 1965, the night before the assassination, Ali met with Talmadge Hayer, one of the men convicted of killing Malcolm X. — Gene Roberts: The Undercover NYPD Agent Who Betrayed Malcolm X

If the tv show showed that both Malcolm X  and Martin Luther King had come to similar positions about capitalism and the Vietnam War at the time of their death.   It would have become clear that the government had the motive to assassinate both Black Leaders.

From the point of view of this government, the world leader in political assassinations, the two assassinations worked. To this day, no mass leader has had the courage to pick up where Malcolm X and Martin Luther king left off. They were able to silence the art, science, and truth of these two great orators. To me, Feb. 21 is “the day the music died.” It was the saddest day of my life.

(However, the last episode shows the FBI file document that William Bradely was the assassin thar shot the shotgun. Whom I identified in my 2010 essay, The Day the Music Died: Malcolm X’s Assassination, Feb. 21, 1965 (First Published by the San Francisco Bayview ) in 2010.: In that article is the picture shown here of William Bradley, who is the man that I had seen in the Audubon Ballroom and in the photos that the Harlem police showed me while I was being interrogated. Bradley was the man I saw coming out of the men’s room, walking by me, past the desks of the secretarial pool, and into his office inside the police station, as I was going to the men’s room! As I wrote in my original 2009 essay: “At that point I knew that he and the government either killed Malcolm X or were part of the assassination plot.” And now I know his name. William Bradley is the man that Talmadge Hayer identified as the one who shot the shotgun. Zak Kondo also identified William Bradley as the assassin with the shotgun.)

The Fed Has a Dangerous Repo Problem: Here’s the Charts On both days this week that the New York Fed offered its $30 billion in 14-day repo loans to 24 trading houses on Wall Street, there was far more demand than the New York Fed had preannounced it would provide. On Tuesday, the demand was for $59.05 billion while the New York Fed provided only $30 billion. On Thursday, the demand was for $57.25 billion while the New York Fed provided $30 billion. In short, there is a growing demand for long-term loans at affordable rates on Wall Street – meaning one or more trading houses has a borrowing problem. The Fed’s loans this week were made at a below-market interest rate of 1.60 percent.   The demand for the 14-day loans came on the same days that the New York Fed also funneled huge amounts of money in one-day loans to Wall Street’s trading houses: $64.45 billion on Tuesday and $46.75 billion on Thursday. Cumulatively, since the Fed began making these unprecedented repo loans to Wall Street’s trading houses on September 17 of last year, it has pumped over $6.6 trillion into Wall Street. Education, Health, Science, and Welfare:

The government of the United States can pass laws in a few days to spend tens of trillions of dollars for war and the bailout of Wall Street and the bankers. Yet, those who ‘governn’, pass universal healthcare for themselves, but they cannot spend even one trillion dollars for universal health for those who are ‘governed’! This is what is considered, by the powers the to be,  a democracy and part of the democratic way. — Roland Sheppard, Let the People  Vote on Healthcare!
