Iran War Damage

If thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought. — George Orwell warned.

Flying a Ukrainian flag such that your neighbors knew of your brave commitment to democracy, liberty, “values” and all that was for a long time the ne plus ultra in the virtue-signaling line.     Have these people finally realized that the corrupt, Nazi–infested regime in Kiev offers no virtue to signal?   This is a good thing if it is so:    There are limits even to the pleasure one can take in the foolishness of liberal —  Patrick Lawarencd. Capitalism has Always had  a Housing Problem: With High Rents, High Umemployment, Systemic Racism, etc, Homelessess is Quaranteed, Yet the US Consider the Homelsss to be Criminals! — Not the Corporate Landlords and the Rest of the 1%!:   Homeless in AmericaDonald Trump’s policy on the homeless is not “housing first” (to state the obvious). It is “incarceration first,” for despite its minimally commendable emphasis on treatment for the insane unhoused, it relies on coercion for a goal not often compatible with the indigent’s interests, namely, “cleaning up the streets” by removing unsightly paupers from view.

Our climate is changing rapidly – and our politicians sound increasingly surreal

This is not a natural calamity: it is being done to us knowinglyGlobal heating is an outrage, not a tragedy. We deserve the facts about the climate crisis – I choose the Guardian because it’s one of the few places left to share them honestly

From Native Americans to Palestinians: The Chris Hedges Report: How the Media Sells Genocide Western media, by employing double standards, censorship, deceptive language, amplifying Israeli lies and dehumanizing Palestinians, facilitates the genocide in Gaza.     The Western media manufactures consent for genocide. It normalizes Israel’s decades-long military occupation and apartheid. It erases Israel’s flagrant violations of international law. It perpetuates the fallacy of Israeli victimhood. It betrays, discredits and demonizes the work of Palestinian journalists and media workers in Gaza, at least 220 of whom have been killed by Israel between Oct. 7, 2023, and August 2025. It supinely accepts draconian Israeli censorship. It acquiesces with tepid letters of protest at Israel’s refusal to allow foreign reporters in Gaza — an effort by Israel to mask its war crimes. It amplifies Israeli lies, from beheaded babies to widespread sexual assault of Israeli women on Oct. 7, to obfuscate the truth.

The US People Must Reject Donald Trump’s Standing Army President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Washington, DC is designed to normalize something that should never be normal in this country: the use of the military as a domestic police force.

Trump miscalculates on Japan Something very bad for the US just happened. Trump’s negotiations with Japan on trade and tariffs did not succeed.    This is very important and very bad because Japan is the single largest holder of US Treasuries, and is under heavy economic pressure.    It has been politically and economically loyal to the US, sacrificing its own interests for the US, instead of standing up for its own.     It looks like that is about to change because the Japanese have just about reached their limit for tolerating US abuse.     The nation is deeply in debt, and may have to sell US Treasuries, which will not be good for the US.     It will be interesting to see how Japan and China move closer together.
