Video: New research : Doomsday Glacier ice shelf could ‘give way any day now’ The Doomsday Glacier, or Thwaites Glacier as it’s more correctly known, is one of the most concerning ice sheets in Antarctica. The thin ice shelf that keeps it in place has been cracking for some time now, and the latest research strongly suggests that ice shelf could give way at any time in the next few months. That would allow the main glacier behind it to begin its inexorable journey into the sea, with all sorts of extremely unwanted consequences. So, how bad could it get?
The Planet’s Largest Carbon Sink Is Reaching Its Limits Climate change discussions usually focus on what is happening above the water: rising temperatures, heatwaves, melting glaciers, sea-level rise. But roughly a quarter to a third of all the carbon dioxide humanity emits never reaches the atmosphere or remains there. It dissolves into the ocean. For decades, this has slowed the pace of global warming considerably — without the ocean acting as a vast carbon sink, temperatures would already be higher than they are. But nothing comes free. Every tonne of carbon the ocean absorbs changes its chemistry. That change is what ocean acidification measures, and in 2025, it became the seventh planetary boundary confirmed as crossed.

250 Years Of Lies, 500 Years Of Uprising Reflection. The so-called “United States” is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026. We, the first people of this land, do not have to look far to spot the hypocrisy of celebrating a document that calls our ancestors “Merciless Indian Savages.” Today, we witness a country that proclaims “freedom” while kidnapping our immigrant neighbors without due process, passing laws that encourage harassment and discrimination against our LGBTQ and two-spirit relatives, and pulling out every political, legal and military strategy to suppress any form of dissent against the state. At the start of this nation, the government ratified over 350 treaties with Native Nations — and then proceeded to break every single one of them. Just as it was clear to our ancestors, it remains clear to us now: this colonial experiment has failed at building anything resembling a true democracy.
