How Bush and Obama Paved the Way for the Trump Presidency, and Why It Isn’t Too Late to Reverse Course

Ralph Nader: Forget ‘No Kings’ Placards, Given What Trump Is Plotting Impeach Him This MinuteTrump’s plans to steal the 2026 midterm elections are already underway. It’s not alarmism to say this. He is saying it out loud and the Republican Party has shown just how far they will go for this fascist. If people do not mobilize now, it may be too late.

During This Economic Crisis, Capitalism’s Political Program: Cuts to Health, and welfare, Austerity, Scapegoat Blacks, Minorities, and ‘Illegal’ Immigrants for Unemployment, and The Iron Heel!    For Decades, Blacks Have Been Subjected to The Iron Heel!   Currently, the US Capitalist Class is Divided Over When — Not If, to Apply It to Everyone! In Today’s United States, The Bill of Rights and the Right to Vote are Now Under Direct Attack!

Video:California’s Next Atmospheric River, ExplainedA river you can’t see is forming over the Pacific right now, and it’s aimed straight at California. Scientists call it an atmospheric river — a narrow, fast-moving channel of water vapor capable of carrying more flow than the Amazon River, and it’s about to meet a coastline still scarred by recent wildfires. In this video, we break down exactly what an atmospheric river is and how it forms, why California’s mountains turn ordinary moisture into extreme, hours-long rainfall, and how scientists in the 1990s finally solved a decades-old mystery about where California’s biggest, most damaging storms actually come from. We also cover the dangerous combination of burned hillsides and intense rain that produces debris flows — one of the deadliest hazards tied to these storms — and what actually protects people when one of these systems arrives. This channel breaks down one real, research-backed natural hazard every week — not just the scary headline, but the actual science behind it. If you live anywhere near California’s coast or foothills, tell us in the comments: have you ever been through an atmospheric river event, or do you live near a recently burned slope? And if this kind of breakdown is useful to you, a like helps this reach other people who need to see it before the next storm arrives.

Video: Summer of ’26: A turning point for the climate crisis? The climate crisis has seldom been dramatized so vividly as in the summer of 2026. Apocalyptic fires, widespread droughts and drained rivers in Europe made clear a worsening situation that even the most fervent denier can’t wave away.    But is there the necessary time, commitment and technology to slow or reverse the climate spiral – even in the face of a US administration that is committed to fossil fuels? How do the two approaches of mitigation and adaptation translate into real life on the ground? And is there any good news amid the smoke and gloom?

White Supremacy and Climate Change: A Sinister SymbiosisThe climate movement will never be effective as long as it refuses to confront white supremacy within its own organizations and as a belief system which is unconcerned about Black and brown death.     This July was the second warmest on record and tens of thousands of Europeans have died this summer from complications associated with exposure to extreme heat.    Climate change still ranks as low as 15th on what U.S. voters consider a key issue. Some years ago , Seattle-based journalist Charles Mudede wrote a piece entitled, “The Fact is Nothing is Going to be Done About Climate Change Until it Kills Lots of white People.”   Mudede’s overall premise associates the lack of climate action with the fact that white lives are not as directly impacted by the climate crisis.     At one point he declares, “What is between climate change and meaningful human action is simply white American lives. As long as they are not directly threatened, we can continue business as usual.”    He then points out the difference between the response to those affected by climate-exacerbated storms in Texas/Florida last year, to the lack of a response for Puerto Ricans adding, “Those lives on that island are Black and Brown.    They do not matter.   Politically, the average white person only wakes up when it’s time to die.” Mudede touches on an issue that few people want to discuss — the relationship between white “supremacy” and climate change.

Diarrhea Summer: Brought to You by Trump, Big Ag, and the Climate CrisisThis cyclosporiasis outbreak is a bright red, flashing warning light: Without quick action and systemic changes to our food system, the next outbreak could be much, much worse. … These outbreaks, now making up the biggest in US history, weren’t inevitable. They’re linked to President Donald Trump’s funding cuts, Big Ag’s control of our food supply, and yes, even climate change.

The Guardian view on Trump’s MMR executive order: endangering the children he claims to care aboutThe president’s empty advice that children should receive separate jabs against measles, mumps and rubella will only lead to less take-up by parents.     Mr Trump and RFK Jr already aim to shrink the vaccine schedule in the US from 18 to 11 shots, citing Denmark, where fewer vaccines are given to young children. But Denmark offers universal high-quality healthcare and excellent screening programmes to pick up those at risk. The US does not, and children fall through the cracks. No other country recommends single measles, mumps and rubella vaccines. But such is the confusion that some parents are likely to take away the message that the combined jab is unsafe – and that no jab is a better choice. President Trump is putting at risk the very “beautiful, healthy, lovely, delicate little children” that he claims to care about.
