The 1%’s Republicrates Stay in Power!

Simultaneously, the scale of deployment in renewable generation and energy storage has altered China’s domestic energy dynamics beyond recognition. Wind and solar installations have officially assumed the status of mainstays in the national power mix, backed by massive expansions in battery storage capacity designed to overcome traditional intermittency challenges. The rapid proliferation of electric vehicles and the aggressive electrification of domestic logistics fleets have begun to structurally erode the growth trajectory of internal combustion fuel consumption. Projections indicating a permanent plateau or structural contraction in specific hydrocarbon demand sectors within the world’s second largest economy are no longer speculative hypotheses. They are observable empirical trends documented across national trade and energy balance sheets. — China’s Green Transition is Breaking OPEC’s Leverage

Global Catastrophic Risks 2026 (56 Page Report)

A system under stress: … Adapting Global Governance to a World of Accelerating Risk Global risks are becoming increasingly interconnected, accelerating and reinforcing one another across environmental, technological and security domains. As this report shows, outdated governance, rising geopolitical tensions and fragmented institutions leave humanity exposed. Addressing escalating systemic threats requires renewed legitimacy, stronger cooperation and a more adaptive, anticipatory global governance architecture capable of managing shared risks. The Earth system moves as a whole; the loss of a rainforest or coral reef sends systemic ripples through climate, food, and water systems. What we need now is a renewed approach to global governance. One that reinforces international law, strengthens shared norms and accelerates action, while simultaneously fostering creativity, innovation and foresight.  Governance must move from crisis response to anticipatory stewardship, embedding foresight, early warning systems and risk reduction into decisionmaking.

Where to Go From Here

  • As the Global Catastrophic Risks Report 2026 makes clear, the system of global governance built to manage shared risks is under immense strain. Yet it remains indispensable for navigating an increasingly complex and interconnected world. Rather than turning inward toward nationalism and isolation, we must rebuild trust in the rules, institutions and norms that still hold while modernising them to meet new realities. Strengthening accountability, reforming international law and giving global systems the capacity to act is essential to restoring legitimacy and effectivenes.
  • Rather than turning inward toward nationalism and isolation, we must rebuild trust in the rules, institutions and norms that still hold while modernising them to meet new realities.
  • The challenges ahead are significant. However, they also offer an opportunity to rethink how we cooperate on a shared planet and to reimagine a global governance system fit for the risks and realities of our time and those still to com

Environmentle Damages From Wars Never End!: Iran oil spill: the War is leaving environmental Scars that Ceasefires cannot heal Oil slicks moving along Iran’s southern coast have reached the Hara mangrove forests of Qeshm Island. Iranian authorities say the extent of the contamination is still being assessed and the source of the oil pollution has not yet been established. But several oil spills have been detected in the region since the war between the US and Iran began.

The New Genocide Deniers   “Genocide deniers” have been social pariahs since World War II, and rightfully so. The term was first used to describe some fringe political figures on the fascist far right who claimed the Holocaust never occurred. It was a hoax, they insisted, and a slander against the German people.     No one, especially no one with liberal views, would have considered joining them as they denied the reality and horror of 20th-century genocide.    The new genocide deniers are a very different breed. They often see themselves as tolerant, open-minded, and liberal. On some issues, they often are. But their reaction to Israel’s violence against Gaza, the 21st century’s most visible genocide, is to dismiss its true nature with the wave of a hand.

US imperialism weakened in Southeast Asia, but the spectre of militarism loomsIn recent times, US imperialism’s increasingly apparent decline and erratic behaviour on the world stage has seen it losing wars and losing friends. As a result, its grip is also loosening over Southeast Asia, pushing many of its traditional allies to look elsewhere.

Iran Eliminates US Strategic Targets As Yemen’s Shock Offensive Dismantles Israeli Scheme

Iran May Be Today, But Who Knows What Tomorrow Will BringHey, Donald Trump couldn’t have made it clearer that he wanted to go to war with Iran, could he?     You would think that even he wouldn’t have been dumb enough to start a war with that country, given the U.S. record of (not) winning wars anywhere on Earth since World War II ended 80-plus years ago, not to speak of his repeated promises, when running for office again in 2024, that, unlike just about every president in recent times, there would be “no new wars,” not all-American ones anyway, once he was back in office — nope, nowhere on Earth. (Whew! That was a lot to get into a single Trumpian sentence!)
