Mass movement of AAC in Pakistan-administered Kashmir defies brutal state repression to write a new chapter in history There is a historic movement underway in Azad Kashmir.    Despite brutal repression and slander by the Pakistani state, the people of Kashmir have shown their incredible resolve and power.   Today is the beginning of the long march. Power is in their hands, but it must be concretised! Hundreds of thousands of people in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, usually referred to as Azad Kashmir, are writing a new chapter in history through their courage and heroism as the Pakistani state unleashes some of the most brutal state repression we’ve seen in the recent period.   The Awami Action Committee (AAC) in Azad Kashmir is leading a historic long march towards Muzaffarabad to press for their demands. In the last three years, these demands had been accepted by the governments of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan following previous long marches. They have not yet been implemented however.

We Can’t Mask Away Pollution!

World’s Air Pollution: Real-time Air Quality Index: Click for Image Showing Industrial Nations’s Global Air Polution!

World Health Organizarion Air Pollution Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.    Household combustion devices, motor vehicles, industrial facilities and forest fires are common sources of air pollution. Pollutants of major public health concern include particulate matter, carbon monoxide, ozone, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Outdoor and indoor air pollution cause respiratory and other diseases and are important sources of morbidity and mortality.      WHO data show that almost all of the global population (99%) breathe air that exceeds WHO guideline limits and contains high levels of pollutants, with low- and middle-income countries suffering from the highest exposures.     Air quality is closely linked to the earth’s climate and ecosystems globally. Many of the drivers of air pollution (i.e. combustion of fossil fuels) are also sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Policies to reduce air pollution, therefore, offer a win-win strategy for both climate and health, lowering the burden of disease attributable to air pollution, as well as contributing to the near- and long-term mitigation of climate change.     Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.     Household combustion devices, motor vehicles, industrial facilities and forest fires are common sources of air pollution. Yesterday, Joan Sebastian Guerrero — a 26-year-old from Colombia with a wife and 3-year-old daughter — was killed by an ICE agent in Biddeford, Maine. Guerrero was authorized to work in the United States and had been issued a Social Security number, according to the Maine Immigrant Rights Coalition.     Last Tuesday, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo — a 52-year-old Mexican immigrant who had lived in Houston for 35 years, running a small business — was killed when driving to work with three other men. Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement began following him and shot him after they said he failed to stop his vehicle.   We may never know exactly what happened to Guerrero or Araujo because, as with Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, ICE’s accounts of both killings have been contradicted by eyewitnesses. ICE says the victims “weaponized” their vehicles — the same excuse they used to murder Renee Good. In none of the cases were agents using body cameras. Trump is turning America into a police state. His forces are ICE and Border Patrol, the National Guard and the U.S. Army, and the Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI. Here’s a quick summary: — The People vs. Trump’s Police State

USA Today’s libertarian-conservative columnist Ingrid Jacques (7/1/26) insisted that “all Americans should read the Declaration of Independence,” becausean alarming number of Americans have lost touch with our founding in 1776 and the principles of freedom and liberty our Founding Fathers laid out in the declaration.Jacques had nothing to say about what we should learn from that d0cuments’ prominent slur against Native Americans, or how to reconcile the idea that a nation guided by principles of “freedom and liberty” exterminated most of its original inhabitants. — The People the Declaration Called ‘Savages’ Were Mostly Ignored in the Celebration 250 Years Later

ICE Terrorism:‘ We Are Grieving, We Are Furious’: Mainers Protest Fatal ICE Shooting in Biddeford“It is horrific. ICE needs to be disbanded. People who work for ICE are untrained. And we want them out of Biddeford,” one resident said. “Killing people in cold blood. They need to be out of Maine.”

Under Israeli Pressure, US Seizes Max Blumenthal’s Devices On Return From Tehran Reporting Trip The Grayzone’s Max Blumenthal was targeted by an Israeli doxxing outfit and Laura Loomer when he arrived in Iran to report on Khamenei’s funeral and the war. Upon his return, US agents seized his electronic devices and subjected him to interrogation. “Our reporting at The Grayzone has clearly become a problem for this criminal cartel,” he commented.   On July 10, 2026, American journalist Max Blumenthal was traveling back to the United States from Iran, which he had visited to report on the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the largest gathering in human history.   While in Iran, Blumenthal interviewed members of Iran’s negotiation team, top political officials, academics and average citizens for a series of video and print reports for this news outlet, which he founded. He also documented several US and Israeli war crimes from the ground, including the destruction of an entire neighborhood in Eastern Tehran which left at least 40 civilians dead.     Upon reentering the country at Dulles International Airport, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) interrogated Blumenthal about his trip, searched his belongings, and demanded that he provide access to his smart phones. When he refused to open his phones, CBP officers forced him to turn them over for detention. Other journalists and travelers have been threatened with the loss of their passports for a month for failing to hand over their devices.

Community Activism Forced Federal Government to Abandon Plans for ICE Warehouses Activists are now watching to see whether the Trump administration will instead further privatize immigration detention.    In a change of course, the Trump administration’s plans to detain tens of thousands of immigrants in Amazon-style warehouses have been massively scaled back. As Truthout reported earlier this year, local communities mobilized swiftly to stop these massive detention sites, some capable of holding up to 10,000 people with no infrastructure to manage the waste and water needs.

Germany: how ‘saving democracy’ assisted the rise of fascismThe Alternative for Germany (AfD) is currently polling around 27 percent. Many warn that we are ‘five minutes away from 1933’. The established parties are campaigning with the slogan ‘save democracy’ to win back a dwindling electorate, which is abandoning them due to decades of cuts and attacks.
